The SNES mini (or, to continue Nintendo's official branding, likely the Nintendo Classic Mini: Super Nintendo Entertainment System) is currently scheduled to launch in time for Christmas this year. Development of the device is already under way, our sources have indicated.

Hopefully this one won't be such a pain to get a hold of.

Yeah, but it just doesn't look right. It is not even close to the original. I would pay for something that reminded me of my first Nintendo 64 and at least looked close to it.

Zuhl, the design is actually the Super Famicom, which was the Japanese version of the SNES. That appears to be a stock photo and may not be indicative of the final product.

I saw a photo yesterday comparing the original with the one that fit in the palm of your hand and I was impressed and might have bought one since they actully appeared identical except for size. This one pictured above would be of no interest to me at all. Call me a sentimental old fool but that's just the way I am. LOL

Found a little one:

The one linked does look pretty close to the original though....  Are you confusing the SNES and N64 perhaps?

I'd be more inclined to buy the SNES one over the NES version....  Now if they release a N64 version with Goldeneye - I will preorder!

The one in the pic I posted above is exactly the same as my old Nintendo 64 only smaller. If not exactly the same it is pretty darn close. I don't research these things in great detail. I just remember seeing this one yesterday and it really caught my eye. I only have so much room in my brain to store technical details and such and most of that room is devoted to Processors, RAM and video boards.

I'd be excited if they were going to release enough for people to eventually buy without having to camp out, and if they make the controller cable length more than 2.5 feet.  The cable length on the NES classic was stupid short, dunno what they are even thinking over at Nintendo.  I don't want to put the thing on my living room table, and I don't want to sit within 3 feet of my 60" TV...

Nintendo know what their doing.... I'd expect them to release the NES again.    It doesn't make sense they'd leave money on the table when it cost them only a couple bucks to make it.   Huge profit margins on 'em !

You would think that but they reject free advertising and tournament money which baffles me.

I've learned to try and not think I know what Nintendo is going to do...even if it seems obvious. Because they usually do the opposite

I assumed they would stop creating these things so that they could put them on the Nintendo Switch store.  I'd buy it if it were on the switch, but I do not need more pointless hardware.

Right, as long as they can port everything over to their store, that seems like a no brainer though I don't know the process of taking source code as old as that and implementing it into their digital store but they definitely should have the rights to all of it.

Yeah, but it just doesn't look right. It is not even close to the original. I would pay for something that reminded me of my first Nintendo 64 and at least looked close to it.

N64 was awesome.
From SuperSmash Brothers, Mario, Pokemon Stadium, to Perfect Dark.

Ha it even had StarCraft!

The controller was fun too.

I'm not interested in these classics, but I would be all over a N64 classic. It is by far my favorite older system, and hard to emulate now if I wanted to ever do that for my older games that I own.

Nintendo Switch is not just to play games. You can do much more with your Switch like streaming Netflix on it. Read:

Emulators to the rescue😸😼

Those who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags! The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way.

Emulators to the rescue😸😼

These things are just licensed emulators using cheap ARM or FPGA single board computers. Never understood the appeal for waiting to buy one when people have been making them for years. Double confused when these sort of things have production issues and delays. It's not because these are hard to make. The project management for these products would have to be incompetent to screw it up.
