I was expecting to get a brand new Z690 dark when they recently became available on the EVGA store. Who else had these before they were available to buy?

Did I buy a used review sample that was refurbished by evga?

Box seems to have had the inner black box taken in and out of it 10+ times.

The box was sealed twice with evga stickers (i received a box with two layers of evga sticker seals) No bent pins on the motherboard, and the plastic peels are still on it.

There is one spot on the motherboard that has sticky residue and a partial fingerprint where the gold plate is near the audio portion of the motherboard on the under side.

The plain example pcb with no traces has multiple scratches on the back of it as if it was slid around a dirty table or mishandled.

I paid 880$ for this motherboard day one (using EVGA elite member access), is it not too much to ask nowadays to get one sealed strait from the factory and not some open box review sample?

Edit:
7 hours later on the same day Jacob from EVGA reached out to me personally and promoted this rma request to an advanced rma. I feel like ill be taken care of well here, but i still wont forget.

I called them and the support first said they take some motherboards out of their batches and test them, but honestly with the amount of scratches on the blank pcb which doesn't need testing, and the dark ink on the inside of the box being rubbed off on the white box, i think this may have been a review sample.

They ended up taking my order number, confirming my name, the support guy said hes going to register the product for me, open an RMA request, and issue me a return shipping label.

Im going to have to wait a week for this mobo to get back to EVGA, then another week for the new one to be delivered to me.

Im not mad, im just disappointed.

Sorry that happened to you man.  Would definitely be disappointed as well.  Honestly surprised they didn't cross-ship or do an advanced RMA to get you the new board ASAP.

I've been with EVGA products for ~15 yrs and bought almost all graphics cards and high-end motherboards from EVGA during the time and registered ( rare to miss some )(the most purchase EVGA from Newegg and EVGA). I'm not a high-end tech or special computer builder, just for home and for our kid's use because they love their products are solid and reliable. I had been waiting for the Z690 Dark since the end of last year but tired of waiting, didn't know when would it come out?! Last 3 weeks I decided to purchase the Z690 Classified now the Dark has shown up. I'm stuck because could not be returned the classy for getting the Dark because it passed 14 days and also the step-up program is not available ( Yesterday I spend around 30 minutes on phone for customer service and could not get a good solution). The point of view is too many programs you need to join to get first/priority benefits for purchasing the high end and new release products not even how long you have been with a company that considers you as a loyal customer, also recently most of the new release products keep coming out later than other competitors after you purchase it then a year or more than a year then-new Gen CPU/chipset comes out ...I'm also living in California but now feel difficult to get EVGA products, really disappointed.

    MB EVGA Z790-Dark (Bios 1.11), Win10/64, i9 13900KS (5.6), Nvidia RTX 3080Ti FE, gSkill Trident 7800 2x16 (XMP1), 2x 1TB WD_Black SN850X NVme 4.0x4/RAID 0, Supernova 1300W. AIO 360 Freezer II.

    I hear that.

I have at least 20 EVGA GPU’s, at least 6 PSU’s, and 3 motherboards I need to sit down and register so I can get my EVGA score up high enough to get new products when they come out.

You pretty much always get a random used mobo/gpu back when you rma.

EVGA took really good care of me when over nighted a new z690 dark across the US.

I was assured by jacob that the new one I got was really new. Although it didnt look like it was made for a space ship (blank pcb still had a few minor scratches, mobo had a few small fingerprints but nothing that wiped away. and the outer box had some shallow nail dust scratches.)

All in all, im not complaining about these monor defects since i waited this long already and the motherboard is working great in my computer.

If this ever happens to you, document document document. Photos and forum posts on here, reddit and twitter. EVGA will take care of you if you have a calm rational demeanor and raise enough attention.
