Demand is too high. What EVGA is doing will definitely improve your chances, but keep your expectations low so that the possible disappointment hurts less.
Exactly, it’s best to hit auto notify and then just go on about you're life

I like this philosophy. It seems they are doing their best to prevent bots.

This is great news! But there's just so much they can do for scalping. If a legitimate buyer wants to sell their card for profit, they can totally do it.

What I'm thinking is (and there wont really be a way to find out whether this is being done or not) whether or not they're tracking the absolutely sheer amount of scalpers that will try to get into the queue. This time around everyone knows about the queue, and the density of people signing up might potentially exceed a 1000 times the previous queues, which will mean we probably won't even get through the first 24 hours until the next year.

The queue will at least be a backup option. Too bad it there's no ETA on when you can receive your chance to buy.

Speaking of scalpers, have you seen the MSRP prices?

People can knock EVGA's methods at getting one card into the hands of users all they want, but at least they are making the attempt.  Whether you agree with how they do it, I applaud their efforts.

I doubt that you edit the HTML. But if it true, these sellers are out of their mind.

They are the only company that I know of that offers a queue when they could let the bots clear out their inventory for instant profits. I finally bought the 3070 ftw3 ultra last week thanks to their queue.

I think the best they can do is to limit to 1 per person or household.

If that person decides to sell his card, there is so much you can do to prevent that.

Well, I think all AIBs should move to an online queue system like EVGA. Its not like people who game don't have access to the internet. It is a lot easier to enforce the sale of individual cards one at a time from the manutfacturer than letting the distributors and retail stores get their hands on them first. At least three times I have had been told back ordered GPUs were received into stock and my order would be shipped, only to be told there was a mistake and no they didn't have it in stock. There are several well known retailers in Canada whose employees are known to be buying the GPUs themselves for scalping, or selling them to friends and family for the same purpose. I don't doubt it happens at the distributor level either. If EVGA only sold GPUs directly, they would make a lot more money, and the distribution would not get warped by unscrupulous middlemen. That being said, I do not quite understand how they cannot make a queuing system that falls flat on its face so easily. I personally have created apps that dealt with many thousands of calls a second to add messages to queues. It is not a complicated thing. They are doing to much work up front. Instead of checking whether a person already has a spot in line, just add the data to the queue and deal with it asynchronously and drop any duplicate entries. Every queued message will have a timestamp so no need to waste CPU cycles during the queuing transaction. At least the the user experience will be much better in terms of not seeing huge numbers of errors and thr frustration of almost making it through to adding yourself to the queue only to get an error when you press the submit button.
