God damn I want to get one of  these, I'm going to camp out at microcenter

Register your products with my code please! I'll make it worth your while ;)

Use my associate code to save 3% on your EVGA GPU purchase! And up to 10% on other products! Use CDPGWU2BO6QBD6I. Works with "EVGA Double 50" to get an additional percentage off.

hopefully it wont take a year to get out of the first day Queue position.

Try in the first minute.

Ya... see that's what I did last time, and here I am sitting here halfway through May without any of the 6 different 3080's that I signed up for in the queue. Does anyone know what percentage of EVGA's cards are actually going to the queue? It seems like it's not as much as it should be.

+1
I would be very curious to know what percentage of EVGA's cards make it to their queue and if they have any contractual obligations to provide their cards to retailers.

Not really. There are opportunists everywhere. Someone could be like "Oh, I only need a 3080" and so they get in the queue for a 3090 knowing full well they are going to turn around and resell it. What Jacob and the team at EVGA has done is prevent people from being able to make a living at it. It's impossible to eliminate it everywhere.

One thing they COULD do is say "Well, if you come to EVGA for warranty work, without a receipt from either the EVGA store, OR an approved reseller, we won't honour your warranty" and watch how fast the scalper sales dry up overnight. Who wants to take the risk that your $3000.00 Card doesn't work and then get stuck with a paperweight?

So, what? You're advocating for the warranties to be non-transferable? That would be a HUGE step backwards for consumers. Right now warranties are transferable, it's just the extended warranties that are not. I would never want EVGA to go back to non-transferable warranties.

Who cares if someone buys a card and then buys another later and sells one of them. That is not what is causing the problems we have.

I would love to see the graphic card makers to force/making stores sell their products at MSRP prices...Im tired (pissed) seeing cards being sold for 2.5x the MSRP prices...

I reported that to EVGA as well but a Vendor cannot force a reseller, even it's officiall partner, to keep to the MSRP.

Hence why it's called MSRP. Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price. This is one rare situation where retailers can charge more than MSRP, which is bad for consumers. But for the most part it allows price competition between retailers and consumers benefit.

TBH is would not be hard to beat with the amount to be made, PO boxes are cheep and can now be setup online and mail fording is free in the US at least. All it takes is a VC and a phony mail forward or PO and I don't think they were have a way to tell if one was doing that aside from looking at IPs and user agent stuff witch could be faked too.

They do not allow PO boxes.

I get told that by amazon a lot too but it does not stop me from using a mail forwarded to my PO.

That's good to know. This plus cross-referencing all delivery addresses to make sure multiple orders aren't going to the same place (even if placed from different accounts) is a decent start. There are probably plenty of other algorithmic approaches to detecting suspicious orders with high precision as well.

Blame the people selling them and not EVGA.

How is it EVGA's fault that some people simply wanted to get one just to make a 100% profit from through scalping?

No method is fool-proof

One way to prevent botting would be to detect how fast the clicking and typing is done. If a user clicks and checks out in under a second, it's a bot, cancel the order and throw the item back in the availability. Actually, I think that's brilliant, this should implemented to all sites, make the check out process multi-step and if any of the pages are filled faster than the average human could, kick them out. This would force the botters to at least run at human speed.

The real question is how much stock will be available at release, but no one knows the answer to this.  The best we can infer is to forecast off historical 30 series release data which will likely result in another "paper launch".  It is great EVGA has put mechanisms in place to help legitimate buyers getting a card, but if only 100 are available at launch with thousands in queue we'll just be playing the waiting game all over again.

The best you can do is pray to RNGesus that you don't get a server error when signing up for the notification at release so you can get an early spot in the queue.  Good luck! :)

Has getting a server error been a common occurrence in the past? I'm hoping to get into the 3080ti queue as soon as possible and would hate to go from 500 to 5,000 all because of a 2 minute server error.

Yes, expect it.  Every person magically has no job on the day of launch and has nothing better to do but refresh the page every second.  They think that they are being sneaky, but all they are really doing is collectively taking down the website.

It's weird that people can afford to spend over $1000 on a video card that they don't need, but have no job and can't spell the word "queue".

Bots can add delay too :)
And normal users can auto fill forms via password managers etc.

At least EVGA does listen to my suggestions, ye😼

Those who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags! The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way.

Yes of course, but at least this way, bots will have to compete with humans on a level field from a timing perspective.

Maybe the person only wanted a 3080 but that card was the first one available. If they didn't need a 3090, but knew they could sell the 3090 to get the 3080 they wanted at above MSRP, what's wrong with that? Obviously they still turned a profit in that situation but you don't know the full story of why each card is being sold either.

Opening the queues up to people who haven't bought EVGA products has made it far more difficult for longer term EVGA customers like me from getting an HC block for my Hybrid 3090 KPE. I realize they didn't do that to prevent me from purchasing one, but it has impacted how I feel about their so-called "Elite" status:

I own other EVGA products as well.

But hey, life goes on.

I like all the stuff EVGA is doing for the community but if the scalpers or bots were smart enough to register one of the rtx cards they got, from any supplier, they would now qualify for the Elite status and will still be able to purchase the 3080ti early.

yeah, but elite member status is preventing non evga customers to be new customers, allowing only people that already have same card to buy it again. This is not a good policy to avoid scalpers in my opinion is the oposite

It's to keep someone from coming off the street and buying everything up.

I'm glad they are rewarding brand loyalty, been using and buying EVGA since the 7600 GTSs

What do you mean? There are tons of ways to become elite besides buying EVGA hw.
