Hi everyone, I recently got my hands on an EVGA XC3 ultra RTX 3070. I've noticed that when I "alt+tab" from a fullscreen game, I get this weird flickering on the screen. The screen doesn't turn completely off or disconnect, but it seems to dim instantaneously and then return to normal. Then, as Im still "tabbed" out of the game, it will flicker intermittently. (In addition, it also flickers on Zoom intermittently). Oddly enough, it seems to perform alright in games, temperatures are ok and it scores a bit over 4500 on the valley benchmark at 1440p cranked settings and there's no stuttering in Warzone or GTA V. My system specs are: i9 10850k ASUS Tuf Z590 Wifi 32 GB Crucial 3200MHz Ram 650W Corsair RM PSU. As I mentioned before, however, it also did this on an entirely different computer. I've made sure my drivers are updated and I've tried a clean install but it is the same. The system isn't unusable but it's definitely annoying... Trying to decide if it's a driver issue or if it's something I should consider RMA for. Just sucks because I've had the card installed for less than a week. EDIT: I also want to mention that I'm using a Samsung 1440p 144 Hz monitor with Freesync (which is disabled in the monitor menu) and it is connected thru displayport

Definitely not rma worthy imo. Did you try all the dp outputs on the card? Did you use the same monitor on the other pc you tested with? Are your dp cables vesa certified? Does the issue only occur on the dp ports?

Hey there. All good questions. I am trying out a different displayport port and seeing if that maybe helps. Also going thru all the new Windows updates (ugh). Yes, the computers were both tested on the same monitor using the same displayport cable. Whether or not it's VESA certified I couldn't tell you (it just came with the Samsung monitor). I am hoping you're right about not being RMA worthy as it seems to me like a software issue.

Check if your monitor needs a firmware update, my Samsung G9 monitor had flickering until I updated the firmware.

Thank you for the suggestion. I went ahead and updated my monitor driver, and there was a new GeForce driver recently. The flickering still persists, but it seems to be slightly less annoying. I also can't seem to induce it on my second monitor which is connected via HDMI. Im kinda lost, and I feel like it's some weird Nvidia control panel setting or something. The monitor is a freesync samsung monitor for anyone that may have had a similar problem.

I keep seeing this, and Im seeing people with 3080, 3090, and now 3070s reporting it.
My system/screen never flickered. BenQ PD3200U 32" 4k screen, 1080ti FTW3. All about 2 years old.
Installed a 3080 FTW3, rebuilt windows10 from scratch as I often do for a GPU upgrade. Allowed the VBIOS to update. Latest drivers, win updates.
Screen flickers randomly, sometimes on the desktop. DP cable is fine. All outputs on the 3080 get the flicker. Other new DP cables, also flicker.
Monitor doesnt need a firmware update. This issue seems fairly clear to me, despite the various obfuscation and "but is your cable CERTIFIED" discourse.

I tried to question EVGA about this flickering issue in the RMA I had going for my 3080 FTW3....... but they wouldnt answer my question and said I would need to make a new support chain with them to ask a question about the flickering. I have too much going on right now to spend another 5-7 days trying to get answers from them directly, so I came here and Im just dealing with the flicker for now. I've already verified my environment. It would be good if EVGA would do a bit more QA/QC in this issue, if this issue is still unknown, and come back with a little more direction for customers seeing this problem. Hurts my eyes sometimes.

Thank you for the video. This was not what I previously thought it was (I thought it was the monitor going black for a little bit.)

I get this issue with my EVGA 3070, but not my MSI 3060 Ti, so I'm also confused as what may be causing the issue.

This seems like a software issue so it may not be worth it to RMA seeing how long that might take with the HUGE shortage
