Hey i was wondering if i could have some opinions on which would be the best bang for the buck? I have a gtx 770 2gb sc model and was wondering if i should go for another 770, sell it and buy a 780Ti, or just for a 970

Depends on if the games you're playing support sli or not. If the do support sli 780 ti sli would be best.

If you don't plan to run sli the 970 would be best.

honestly the 770 SLI is a bad idea, 2gb isn't enough at 1080p, I'd go 970

+2 to SLI 970's. Wife is running a pair, and still able to *pretty much* play everything maxed out at 1080. Picking up a used 780 Ti is kind of a gamble too as they have been out for over 4 years, so who knows the life expectancy left, especially if it was heavily used. Also the 970 will yield you a little more VRAM(512mb-1GB depending on games played) so that will help with games to come. Also to mention is the fact the 700 series is probably not going to see any future driver enhancements.

Gtx 970 will give you the best bang for the buck

I would agree 2gb Vram isn't enough. I would certainly be going with the 970. Prices are pretty comparable between it and the 780 Ti, plus you are getting a newer card.

I'd say 970 as well, simply for the extra 1gb (or 500mb :) ) memory. That said, if you're strapped for cash, and only playing at 1080p, 780 ti is very close in power.

SLI doesn't always scale well, at best you are looking at ~+70-80%, average +40-60%, and at worst 0% or even negative percent with 1/2 of the games out there just not supporting SLI in the first place. SLI profiles aren't always available at launch of games so if you buy day 1, you will play off of one card only. I would avoid SLI unless you have a very specific use case that can give you close to double the performance (cuda work), religiously play a game with very good scaling, or are pushing for 4k and already own a gtx 1080/1080 ti. Always get the fastest single card you can afford before you start looking at multicard setups.
You can google SLI scaling 2017/2018 and see some benchmarks on it, babeltechreviews has a good article with benchmarks about it.
Overall get the gtx 970+ or gtx 1060 6GB+ but no 700 series cards and no 2nd gtx 770.

Did you ever decide on what you were going to do? I recently gave my trusty GTX 670 to a friend whom I just pieced a PC together for until GPU prices come down. I couldn't believe the card still can play modern titles at fair quality settings. That being said I make my point, perhaps another 770 for SLI if found at the right price would be fairly decent upgrade, and a 780 Ti would be great too. They might be old cards, but SLI setups in terms of raw performance can have a decent life span of good performance(given games with good SLI scaling) Hec 2x 770's should trump a GTX 980 which is still a fantastic gaming card.

The 970 is an absolutely great purchase, even without SLI. I've got a Titan Black that's showing it's age, and my wife's 970 shows it up pretty often.

Best option... Sell 770 and buy GTX1080....
Ohhh I forgot that GTX1060 cost now 500$.
In my country someone sell ASUS GTX1080Ti Founders Edition for 800euro still in warranty 2 years.
I will miss... but I must say that I'm aware that maybe I will sorry because of that decision when new generation show up.

I was running 2 Evga 780 ti sc's in sli for awhile but sold one awhile back. Oddly I haven't saw much difference unless its 4k. I went from being able to run BF4 on high 4k over 60 fps, to low for 60 fps in 4K. 1080P I haven't seen much difference. I don't have the data in front of me atm but I have "heard" that SLI adds noticeable lag. I don't know relatively how much, but it suddenly makes me consider a single card a better "gaming" solution.

780s SLIed would still be pretty awesome. but it is like that need just one strong card.
