CAxVIPER Anyone have a solution besides heat shrink for these? I wouldnt bother with the heatshrink on the double wires. You can do it but it has to be perfect. Just pull the sleeve down and burn the end of it and it should stay. Or if you only have 6pin cards just take the double wires out completely that what i did after trying to heatshrink it 5 times.

Guess ill just wait for me heatshrink I only did my 24pin and 4 pci cables on my Ax1200. My 24pin had one like that, that i just didnt heatshrink the side with 2 wires and my 670's only take 2 6pin connectors so i just took that double wires off. I tried like 5 times to get it right on my 24pin and was always off by a few mm's. It can be done but it has to be perfect for it to fit back in.

Try using a molex 0039 minifit jr on the double wires, they are the pins with the high walls for double wire crimping, if you are using paracord, take a piece if heatshrink and BURN It onto the paracord, it will melt the paracord to wire, actually fuse the paracord and wire together, on the double wire connectors, I will use a smaller gauge if nessacary just for those. I personally like the look of heatshrink, but you have to use the right shrink for a good look. 4:1 thin wall no adhesive is best, 3:1 is ok too. I'll post some pics tomorrow on double wires. Another simple trick if your using heat shrink, is to use a super small piece, 5mm in length to hold both wires together, once you plug the molex minifit jr back into the socket, use a 10mm length piece of super thin wall, over both wires like you would normally do, it will give a nice appearance on the heatshrink, with out having to fit it into the connector.
Sorry about no pics, on the mobile, and do not have any on this deceive.

Great tutorial, I getting some black 550 cord. I used this stuff all the time when I was in the army, and it never occurred to me to use it as a sleeve material until I read this post. Great idea! As a side not this stuff is super strong if you ever need it as a last minute tie down for almost anything, so I would order some extra if you plan on doing this.

nice guide Delirious! I see you chose the path of heatshrinkless sleeving? looking good from own experience I can only drop one word of advice regarding the pin removal from 24-pin / 8-pin and 6-pin connectors (all same pins) ... if you are using a tool of any sort and you struggle with pin removal i.e. it stays locked inside no matter how hard and how long you try ... then most likely your tool is the problem... learned it the hard way ... used SunbeamTech 2-prong Molex pin removal tool like this one here: on a side note, XOXIDE sells the 4-piece PSU modders toolkit at $12.99: http://www.xoxide.com/sunbeam-psu-tool-kit.html however my tool came with a factory defect. namely the prongs were not at even length (one was shorter by 0.5mm) and so it was unlocking only one side of pin every time. after I noticed the problem I trimmed them to same length and even then still no go (angle of prongs were slightly outwards on ends) ... so I modded it a tad further slightly bending the very ends inwards while middle of prongs I bent slightly outwards ... now my tool works like a charm every time! instead of struggling for 1 hour with a single pin (which I damaged eventually), now it takes me literally 5 seconds to remove any pin with zero effort ... something to think about if you keep struggling. here is a good example of an almost perfectly shaped EPS/ATX/MB pin removal tool (Sunbeamtech) in this video: also, here is some extensive knowledge in a FAQ article on OCN by Lutro0, very useful (Lutro0 also posted several excellent video guides on youtube): http://www.overclock.net/...ked-sleeving-questions just my 2 cents, hope it helps!

I used the home-made extractor method, and yes it works, but I'm probably gonna buy one of these as well. Maybe "Santa" will slip one into my stocking next week?

Good tutorial, I will say after messing around with home-made molex tools I finally broke down and bought some.
The frozenCPU tools are pretty good, the push/pin extractor is a godsend. Haven't yet bought the official molex tool as it's damn pricey, but the cheaper frozen one is double sided and worked well. Just hurts my hand to hold it.
