I'm confused. I have my PC connected to my monitor via DP cable for 1440p 144hz. XR1 need to be connected to monitor via HDMI. Pc sees XR1 as a 2nd monitor. I'm using this single PC for gaming and want to steam using the XR1 on the same PC. My LG monitor is set as primary and XR1 is secondary monitor in the nvidia control panel. Everything is setup in OBS and I can see the webcam feed and desktop (of second monitor which is this XR1) in the OBS preview window. But when I launch a game it is displayed on primary monitor and doesn't show it in OBS preview. Only way I get a game to capture in the OBS is if I clone the second monitor XR1 to Primary but now I'm stuck with 1080p. How do I keep resolution to native 1440p 144hz and stream in 1080p? Or do I need a second PC as a streaming PC??

My XR1 does not come with a DisplayPort connection only HDMI. Is it possible you've skipped a step and are not using the device to capture your monitor signal? The manual that comes with the device is not perfect but I advise you to go over it a few times. If you do not have anything hooked up to the XR1, it will not have anything to record

I can record but I was thinking I could game in 1440p while the XR1 captures it in 1080p 60fps but unfortunately that's not the case. I would need to clone the main display which then leaves me stuck with 1080p resolution. I was under the impression that I was able to game in 1440p or 4k while this card will capture my stream/game in 1080p.

Jesus Christ can't even get an EVGA tech to respond. Awesome.

So your video card is connected via DP to your Monitor and via HDMI to your XR1? I think the issue lies right there. I have not had success using DP and HDMI at the same time. *deleted* I would recommend getting a second monitor.

I do not think you need a 2nd panel. Simply use a empty HDMI slot of the GPU and plug it into the XR1 then simply plug the USB cables in and capture that in OBS. Just use your OBS settings at 1080 output

I get what he's saying now, the xr1 only bypasses to output 1440p and doesn't function as a capture device so he would have to run his desktop res at 1080p to capture. So he would have to have the gpu duplicate and downscale the output at the same time to hdmi for the xr1 to recognize it and run his game at 1440p. Idk what software can do that

If you're using the XR1 to capture video from your PC, then taking that video and putting it back into the same PC, this would be a round about way of capturing the video, as with a single PC setup, you would traditionally just use OBS to capture the game/window directly and would not need a capture card. XR1 and other capture devices are meant for getting the video from another PC (two PC setup) or Device (game console) into your PC, for recording or streaming.

I was curious about this as well.. I want to game in 4k on my main pc using DP connection and at the same time have this capture 1080p via hdmi port on the video card no monitor attached. With this setup, I would attach the XR1 to another PC and have it stream it up. But from what I have read on this thread there is an issue getting your video card to transmit the game on both ports at the same time if you don't have a 2nd monitor to pass through the signal to? meaning... the duplicate monitor option will see the xr1 as a device that can only match 1080p and it sees your original monitor at 4k. Thus it forces the resolution to the max of the lower resolution in order to duplicate to both 'monitors' aka devices as it sees it.

That is correct. The XR1 can only capture at 1080p60. The advanced passthrough, which allows higher refresh/resolutions is meant as a feature that lets you play games with those settings without having to disconnect the device, but is not meant for capture.

Oh how I wish I knew this before ordering the XR1 capture card. I was hoping that this would be a cheaper solution to the Elgato's $250+ capture card that allows gaming at 1440p 120hz and actually allows you to capture and stream at 1080p/60. Looks like I will have to spend that much money to get what I am looking for. This XR1 card is being returned today ASAP. Rather unfortunate as I like the look of the capture card. False advertising sucks.

We do apologize for any confusion on the matter, as the specs do state the item is capable of 1080p60 capture and other resolutions are only supported for passthrough, like 4K, but 1440p120 is only supported through Advanced Passthrough, which essentially turns off capture.
