Hello! First post here!

Just got the 650W G3 SuperNOVA and a problem occured. I have a multiplug with a master/slave function. When it detects that the device at the master position shuts down, it cuts the power to all the slave sockets too. With my older PSU (Chieftec A135 Series) it worked properly. With the new one the slave function stays on when the PC shuts down...

Any thoughts?

    After you Shut Down the Computer Turn Off the Power Supply.

    Welcome to the EVGA Forums

    Power continues to flow to the MB with current PSU designs, it has been this way for Years

    This is why you must unplug the PSU before adding or removing anything from the MB.

    It is possible that another ancillary devices like a USB hub or other device may be backfeeding causing the issue your seeing

    You could plug your monitor into the "master" position

    @bcavnaugh
    Did that. It closes the master switch. But can't be doing this every time I want to open or close the PC...

    @Cool GTX
    I read about the back feeding from USB case. I unplugged them all. No change. I also thought to put a monitor at the master position but, as it was expected, the PC wouldn't open because it wouldn't receive any power due to being in a slave socket.

    Welcome to the forums.

    The title of your thread says "Shuting down the PC dosn't cut all power from the PSU"

    Are you saying that the PSU stays on/PSU fan still runs when you shut down your PC?

    I don't know the actual electronical function that troubles me. It might be a normal one as a fellow mentioned earlier.

    No, the PSU's fan isn't working.

    All I can tell you right now about the problem (still not quite sure exactly what it is) with your 650W G3 is to disconnect your PSU from everything, plug it directly into a wall receptacle, and perform the basic Power Supply Test as descibed in the EVGA FAQs to see if it works as it should..The PSU Tester/EVGA Detection Tool should have came in the box with your PSU.

    It might not be a functional problem of the PSU. Nevertheless, it is a problem to me.

    I will perform the Test you suggested later today and I'll come back with the results!

    Yes when the computer is shut down the power supply still provides "stand by" power to the system, this is why you'll still see some lights on your motherboard and such when the system is off. This is part of the normal operating function of the power supply, you can use the power switch on the power supply itself to stop the stand by power from being supplied to the system.

    Everything is security.

    The unit should turn on when the PSU Tester is attached to the 24-pin connector, and not until then..And should shut off when the PSU Tester is removed.

    And as EVGATech_JeffP said, the unit will supply +5V VSB (Volts StandBy) or 'keep alive' voltage to the motherboard when it is plugged in and the switch on the unit turned on, which will light the motherboard Standby Power LED.

    Problem solved!

    The master/slave function had a threshold switch which, apparently, covered the previous PSU (IF it would perform likewise) but not the new one. I turned the knob a little and now it covers the new PSU too!

    Thank you all for your inputs!
