Hi At idle, my 3080 XC3 Ultra keeps the GPU clock at 1755mHz, not going below this, and the mem clock at 9702 MhZ, again not dipping below this. They both boost above when needed but sit at these levels all the time at Idle. Should they? or should they be sitting much lower until a load is detected. I've not enabled Boost lock on Precision X1. Thanks Martin

The card should downclock when idle to lower speeds, unless you have something keeping it up there, do you have prefer maximum performance turned on in the NVidia control panel? that'll force clocks to stay in 3D mode as well, so it's not just precision that can do that. Could also be something else in the background running that's keeping it in 3d mode as well, though I'm not sure what that might be, though could check in performance monitor to see if anything is using much of the GPU.

What monitor & Hz are you using ? Nvidia Control Panel what have you changed ? (as mentioned in Post above - some settings Force Max performance) Did you just installed you new GPU ? Did you run DDU to remove old drivers ? Turn Windows Fast Startup = OFF ---> How to disable Windows 10 fast startup (and why you'd want to) | Windows Central Might also want to try a Power flush (Windows 10 Never really does a Cold Boot) 1 - Shut down 2 - Unplug PC & anything connected to PC that is plugged into the wall (monitor, printer, USB hub ...) 3 - Now hold "start button" in for 20 sec to discharge capacitors .... 4 - Plug in & reboot FYI ... In Windows ... Turn OFF ..... the update feature "Delivery Optimization" --> It is known to cause stuttering in Windows 10 Windows Graphics settings: Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling Turned On ? Windows Power Option, set to ?

Oh and Ive also looked at my gpu usage in Task manager and when at idle I can see nothing that is forcing the gpu to run at this speed?

that's correct, when idle it should drop to 210mhz, though it may jump up a bit every now and then a little bit, even if it's not doing 3D stuff, but it shouldn't reach full speed unless it's doing a somewhat heavy workload.

I agree, however up until today it was sat at 1755 all the time, its only when I started altering some of my settings that it went back to proper idling mode, not sure which setting I changed to fix it though

That is why it is best to change one item at a time - so you know how the change impacted the PC

My guess is changing prefer maximum performance to adaptive, as that's always going to boost your clocks up there. it might have just took a bit for it's impact to take effect, instead of having it drop down right away. The other settings I think might cause odd stuff to happen, but that one is certain to keep the clocks in 3d mode at least.

I also found this behavior and it was caused by running nVidia Broadcast.
