I have an old Mobo for Windows 7, no signs of any BIOS update for Resizable Bar coming, I downloaded PX1 and it wanted to Flash my BIOS.

Is this the resizable bar BIOS or a normal BIOS upgrade with Re-Bar being separate in PX1?

I've been afraid to flash and I can't use the new PX1 without doing so.

    Consider upgrading to Windows 10.

You might be confusing the MCU flash with the Resizable BAR flash.  Those are not the same.  The MCU flash is the one that will ask you to update the firmware as soon as you open PX1; the ReBAR VBIOS will only be applied if you visit the ReBAR tab and select the "Update" button.

Thank you Lee, and saijin. Exactly what I was curious about.

jauris, I don't mind the commentary (heard it all before) but you could have at least answered the question instead of acting like a useless troll.

For the record...I have Windows 7 and Windows 10, just because my chipset is the last to support Windows 7, doesn't mean my monster of a rig can't handle Windows 10.

It also doesn't mean my motherboard was new enough to support Resizable Bar due to lack of a BIOS update.

Not only was your response pointless, it wasn't even intelligent and you had barely read the question.

Why people waste the time to sit on forums and do that is something I will never understand.

Regardless, thanks for the help fellas, I do appreciate it and sorry about the rant lol.

So I flashed the BIOS, same issue as everyone else seems to have, fans stuck at 33%, downloaded the newer Precision X1, flashed again and only my first two fans stay that way hahaha...I can't load either PX1 (is there a Windows 7 compatibility issue?)...I had to go back to 1.1.7.1 (a beta given to me during a troubleshooting) but that didn't solve any of the issues.

I had NVIDIA Driver version 465.89 installed at the moment, I lost my 144hz 1080p settings in NVIDIA control panel, went back to 461.92.

As I said, I can't run resizable bar anyways, not that I was able to reach that screen lol...but all I did was update the normal BIOS during setup.

I uninstalled PX1, deleted my settings, reinstalled NVIDIA drivers, shut down entirely turning off my PSU at the switch and waited about a minute then reinstalled PX1 v1.1.8.0 and v1.1.9.0, no luck.

What in the world is going on?

I'd like to hit reset now...wish I never asked lol. I backed up my BIOS in GPU-Z, can I use that to flash it back? And what would I use to do it?

My PX1 is lagging like crazy, my power bar us stuck at 0%...help please.

EDIT: Reinstalled PX1 ver 1.1.7.0 and my power bar went back to normal. But my third fan loads with my PC at full speed (which is kinda bad, I have my 3090 mounted vertically), it has a bracket under the Retention Bar...but still.

I would still like to know how to flash back and why PX1 past that version doesn't work. Not liking the new BIOS lol.

Yes, you can use the gpu-z backup to reflash the card using nvflash.

That was the name of the program I couldn't remember.

I'm gonna assume nvflash is from NVIDIA's site.

Either way I'll find it...good to know my backup can be used.

    Thanks alot.

It supposedly flashed, but my fan is still spinning max speed after a single reboot.

these are the commands I followed.

    nvflash --protectoff
    nvflash -6 GA102.ROM
nvflash --protecton (this failed in powershell)
    nvflash --reboot

after rebooting I went into DOS and typed

    nvflash --protecton

Window went admin and closed without me seeing results...but then I loaded another drive (Windows 10) and my fan spun up to max again, just the same one. Did I mess up?

Sounds like you did it right. Didn’t know there was a reboot command. Must be a new command.

I saw the same posts all over (including on evga), but one had links to the download and was more descriptive...so i went with that.

I want to know why -6 for the flash, I tried reading the command line help and still couldn't figure it out...and I've been using DOS for over 20yrs so unless I scrolled past it idk...my PowerShell window was half chopped off and word wrapped, that didn't help.

What I find ironic is the fan only spins up when I load into Windows 10 now (I flashed in 7), the video driver is older if anything and its the same PX1...or was.

Just went to make sure it wasn't a one time fluke and Windows 10 (or my GPU) crashed entirely. ****.

-6 is an override command. You didn’t need to use it since you were just trying to flash the original. It didn’t hurt anything using it though.

Well, something hurt Windows 10 after I flashed it...OS can't repair. I can walts right into Windows 7 no problem though lol. So much for the smart comment about upgrading to Windows 10 lmao.

Long as it isn't the GPU, I'll just restore the drive from a backup, no big. just VR games and BS on that drive.

Thanks for all the help and info my friend.
