Hi, I ordered a new 1080 Ti from Newegg and it arrived this morning much to my excitement. Unfortunately I looked on the back and where it says to compare the two stickers, the last digit of the serial no is not matching, the one on the card is a 4 and the one on the box is a 7. Should I go ahead and return it? The P/N is 11G-P4-6393-KR, it's the black edition.

Take a picture and contact Newegg and EVGA directly. https://www.evga.com/about/contactus/Whatever you do, do not open the box yet! Me? I would ask for a replacement. It says right on the box to make sure the serial numbers match. To ignore the problem now is not worth the doubt and potential warranty issues in the future for such an expensive card.

Got off the phone with EVGA support, they said the serial number stickers could have been misplaced during packaging and both serial numbers did go out to newegg and correspond to the right card version. I'll test the card and probably keep it if everything is alright. Another thumbs up for EVGA support, took like 5 mins to get an answer.

Did they confirm that the serial number on the GPU was correct or the one on the box? You need the one on the GPU to match.

I spoke to kuzypy this morning; in cases like this I would always recommend using the serial number on the card instead of the box. The card is what's going to be sent in, and a different serial number can cause confusion. It's also a good idea to contact us in same way about problems like this so we can make a note about the confusion on your account.

Hi Brandon, Thanks for looking into it this morning. Something similar happened to someone on Reddit and he has alerted me to the fact that his evga black 1080 Ti from newegg came without shrink wrap (and mine did as well, my mind didn't even register that it should have been there). This seems seems to indicate it might be an open box, which might make sense given the unmatching serial numbers. Looking at unboxing videos on YouTube, it does seem that most of the videos show boxes arriving in shrink wrap. (It won't let me post the Reddit URL but it's in the r/BuildaPC subreddit) I went ahead and registered the card after our call, and opened the box to verify everything looks good and only later read about the shrink wrap thing. I haven't tested the card yet but just a little nervous that this might come back to bite me if I decide to step up or RMA at some point. Edit: to clarify, the card itself did have the anti-static wrap neatly wrapped around it with the yellow sticker; the thin plastic film around the entire product box was absent.

Yeah no thin plastic film around the card would be a sign of a re packaged return from newegg.com. :/

Same issue here and same card. No shrink wrap around the outside of the box; and the last digit of the S/N on the box is different from the one on the card. Upon closer inspection, it also looks like the two pieces of tape (that hold the open ends) are halfway cut. Edit: Called EVGA. Talked to Gabe (I think that was his name). He said the card was sent to Newegg 7 days ago (that would be 2/7). I bought it on 2/8, so if it was a return that would be some ridiculously fast shipping time. He said as long as the tamper sticker (the tape on either side of the box) wasn't broken, then it should be fine and to not worry about it too much--the number on the card is what matters. Personally, my guess is it was just some kind of packaging mismatch/error on EVGA's end. I'll be testing it and such once the rest of my PC parts arrive, but hopefully there aren't any issues with it.

Actually talked with him and they're very similar. He had 4 and 7 for the last numbers while I had 3 and 8. So basically one number off. I'd bet that 2 and 9 got switched around too!
