I am extremely upset with the RMA of my graphics card.

I received my RMA-ed graphics card and I was disgusted when I saw what I got.

I sent in a Gold GTX980TI that was in pristine condition. When I send it for RMA, I packed in the same box that EVGA provided when EVGA RMA-ed this card previously. The card was picked up by courier arranged by EVGA.

After waiting for a week or so, this is what I received: it is full of scratches. The cooling fins were bent. The radiator tube fabric was fraying. Worst of all, they sent me a card that is in Silver color.

The images can be viewed at this link:       https: //imgur.com/a/M6KvU

This is the second time this card is being sent for RMA in 2 months.

So far, the experience is nothing short of horrifying. It was insulting, to say the least when I opened up the box to see it in such beat up condition.

I think this warrants a forum post to warn others about such service quality.

Update 17 Nov 2017
EVGA has contacted me to explain the change of golden shroud to the silver shroud.

"I’m sorry that your replacement card was in such a poor condition. Let me get in touch with our Taiwan office and see what they have available in inventory. We should be able to get you a better condition card, but unfortunately, I can’t guarantee if it would be a gold or silver shroud. The gold shrouds were changed early in production to the silver The card has been discontinued for about a year and a half now, so what we have available may be limited. "

A little sad about the golden shroud cause IMO its the most classy graphics card shroud around.

While the physical condition of the card can be improved, I certainly wished the RMA team would have written to me to inform me about the golden shroud situation before receiving a shocker from the RMA-ed card.

With that said, I have decided to send for RMA again. I am keeping my fingers for my RMA card-to-be. I will update again when I received the card.

I would request to talk to RMA manager about it.

You need 50posts before you can hot link images, but you can put the link without www in front of it.

    Hi MSim,

Contacted the RMA manager and waiting for a response.
Thank you for informing me about the images! I would have looked really silly if I had no images to back up my claims.  I added a link to the first post. If they cannot be viewed, please let me know.

    We can't see the images.

Break up the link but don't let the link be in blue.

Hi magnum.p.i , we should be. I will suggest taking photos of your set before sending for RMA. On the bright side, EVGA has responded promptly to my emails.

Hi MSim, Thank you for doing me a favor again!

    Hi all,

I would like to give an update on my RMA Situation.

After waiting slightly more than a week, I was offered a refurbished GTX1080 Hybird card as a replacement for my GTX 980TI card. While I am excited about the upgrade, I contained my excitement until I can confirm the condition of the replacement card.

Luckily, the replacement card's condition is a 9+/10 (minimal cosmetic blemish).

I am appreciative of the upgrade. On top of that, I think the upgrade to a similar "hybrid" card (blower-type) is very thoughtful and had saved me a lot of trouble. I am currently using Corsair 380T case. This case requires a blower/hybrid type graphics card to get an optimal airflow configuration. So I can plug and play.

While this whole process took almost a month, I think the EVGA team has kept constant communication with me. The manager also replied to my email to explain the situation. Good communication definitely helped the situation!

As my RMA issue comes to a close, I will want to use this company's product for my future builds. Also, thanks to this community who showed support to me during this RMA process!

Aside from this, I really hope EVGA brings back the sexy golden shroud for the future hybrid graphics cards.
