I'm new as I am seeking some information regarding the purchase of a video card that I need. I currently have a GT220 Nvidia but it needs replacement. Contacted EVGA as the tech said the graphics card would be contingent upon the (UEFI). He said it may or may not work. My PC is going on ten years (HP Pavilion- P6370t). The motherboard is MS-7613 (Iona-GL8E). I am trying to acquire information as to whether this board supports UEFI. What graphics cards can I use. Bios Version/ Date: American Megatrends Inc 5.15, 6/25/2010. All replies are very much appreciated. I am in need of a graphics card.

Your biggest problem is that Win 7 is going out of service next year, so look into upgrading to Win 8 or 10 asap if you haven't already.

    Your pc's specs:

    https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01976269

It's got PCI-e, so any older pcie gen 2.0 gpu might work.  I wouldn't bother with anything more than about a $50 GPU, the CPU won't be able to keep up with something more modern.

    * I purchased the PC new from HP in 2010, nothing second hand. I just got off the phone with Nvidia and they said the GT1030 would work as its backward compatible. Each time I call someone, I get a different answer, along with EVGA. I really do not know what's happening in this world; very worrisome.  A PCIe 16 I'm seeking. I cannot believe this has turned into a total research effort. Are the newer cards backward compatible, as stated by Nvidia in terms of UEFI?
He said that my processor (Processor Intel ® Core i5 CPU 650 @ 3.20GHZ, 2 Core(s), 4 Logical) would be no issue. Your thought.

*No chance. There are two keys I very much need that are not in 10. I've seen 10, not really big on the fingers club. Rather stay with the clickers club, no offense. I'm aware of the details relating to windows, as many have been pushing me to 10. Not interested, not at all. In fact, I no longer install any roll-ups for they are all adjoined to Windows 10. I'll keep 7 for a long time, irrespective of hardware failure. Thank you very much for your insight.

OK....you might want to look into obtaining a copy of Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC, if any version is an acceptable change from 7, that's it. It also runs fine on old hardware with old software, there's even a 32 bit version.  Not sure about you're saying about keyboard shortcut vs. mouse clicking, but I'd like to hear more.  Sorry for the thread hijack.

I ment you probably would need to acquire a different card 2nd hand since evga dont sell something that old.

*I briefly tried 10 a few years back and uninstalled. Again, I need one specific key 10 does not have.

LTSC is so much like 7 (or XP) that it's shocking.  Aside from the slightly janky control panel layout.

    * You did not elaborate upon the tech stating, "Backward compatible". I can acquire anything, so presenting a hook doesn't irk me. I'm old school, forever.

I can tell you, that I run a Xeon CPU with mobo, and the mobo supported graphics cards up to GTX 1060 (haven't tried the GTX 16xx series yet), but an RTX 2060 or higher was not supported.
And my system is from 2014 (5 yrs old).
10 year old graphics cards, probably your best bet is to look through the best GPUs of 2009 thread here.
The best GPU of that time was a GeForce GTX 295, which is roughly 3x faster than your current card according to gpu user benchmark.
Still, it's no guarantee this GPU will work.

Your best bet, is go with your pc, to a pc second hand parts place, and try out a few cards, before buying them there (as a courtesy, even if they're more expensive than online).

600 series and older cards didn't come with uefi, so they will work with your system much better than anything 700 series and newer.
