https://www.techspot.com/news/78384-samsung-drops-970-evo-plus-nvme-ssd-new.html The 970 EVO Plus achieves significant performance improvements - up to 53 percent in write speed - as well as increased power efficiency over its predecessor, the 970 EVO. The new drive delivers sequential read and write speeds of up to 3,500 megabytes per second (MB/s) and up to 3,300 MB/s. The 970 EVO Plus comes in a variety of capacity options; the 250 GB, 500 GB and 1 TB capacity versions are now available for purchase worldwide, and the 2TB capacity will become available in April. The 970 EVO Plus is offered in capacities of 250GB, 500GB and 1TB with MSRPs of $89.99, $129.99 and $249.99, respectively. Samsung says they’re available to purchase from today although I’ve had no luck finding them as of writing. I think the pricing for these M.2 SSDs are reasonable.

Do we know if this is still based on TLC or it's now based on QLC?

My 970 EVO 500gb NVMe drive tops at 40c in Maximus XI Code, it's heat sink is metal with a thermal pad, seems to do a decent job.

It seems to be very reasonably priced and the fact we will see a 2TB is going to be great. Seems like the 2TB might be about what a 1TB was a year ago.

From what I heard nand wants to run warm. Obviously, not too hot but I was hearing 60C on the nand is preferred. It is the controller that needs to have a cooler, more managed temp. Is this 100% true?? -shrugs-

Just on time, I prepared to order WD Black SN750 1TB and friend told me, did you saw Samsung 970 EVO PLUS. I didn't even know. Numbers are nice, we will see when arrive, 1TB size is just enough. But for games I will use SATA III 860 EVO 1TB. I will not see difference I think even if I install them on M.2. But I believe this is only some small upgrade of similar M.2 as 960/970. Next gen will be much faster, but I can't wait any more.

I just put in the the 970 pro and am very pleased with it. It gets as advertised on read and writes. I doubt I'd know a difference in the pro plus. But that's great. Getting faster is good.

No Samsung 970 Pro Plus. Only EVO Plus. I will post result for 3-4 days when arrive, it was 230 euro 1TB with 5 years warranty. Samsung 970 EVO Plus have only different firmware I think. But 42-50% faster write speed. It would be nice to all people on 970 EVO upgrade firmware and reach same speed. Before speeds reach 5500-5000 owners of 970 EVO and PRO no reason to change.

How much cost in USA? In East Europe is every 1-2 days different price and change from 230-260 euro, 5 years warranty. I used chance when he dropped to 230 euro. I thought to wait some completely new controllers and new gen but always will be something new. These days I re-arrange hardware/cooling and will be nice new pictures... than long waiting PCI-E 5.0 and DDR5 for new platform.

All I know is that the Intel SSD I have now seems to be respectable. It is faster than expected too. It uses QLC but it has some SLC to perk up performance as a cache. The SSD Toolkit can manage the SSD and get more performance out if it than Windows can. Intel 660p 512GB M.2 NVMe PCIx x4

I had so much trouble to install EKWB Heatsink that I gave up from installing because I was afraid clips will kill M.2 At the end I install zip ties over EKWB Heatsink but that's not probably best solution. Problem is because on my board M.2 slot is only 40% visible from GPU... I have small 20x20x0.5mm fan and I will install him only on controller of M.2. That's only visible spot of my M.2. Many brands recognized possible problems with similar approach and give rubber to people to install heatsink. If you want to go with M.2 Heatsink I advice Bitspower or Thermal Grizzly if you have limited space as me and some of no name with screws if you have more space. Both have backplate but for Bitspower I'm sure he install very easy. He is from aluminium, Thermal Grizzly is not, but have channels better if someone use small fans. I closed CORSAIR Air Flow, old memory fan if someone remember, that's one aluminum case with 2x 60mm fans. I couldn't believe how he decrease temperatures of M.2, from 55 idle to 38 idle, temps didn't pass 50C in Benchmarks. But that was absolutely not possible to hold him above GPU. That was funny how he cool down M.2 and push air only on controller.

I'm not sure maybe because older platform and processor i7-5820K but on some places I have 10% lower results... on some places is normal. But result in these benchmarks is very different depend of moment when you test and I suspect how much they are accurate at all... Anyway in my region is 105 euro cheaper than Samsung 970 PRO 1TB. And for so much lower price I think it's not bad choice at all. I believe processors with Turbo 4.8-5.0GHz and memory 3200-3666MHz will give you even little better score than Haswell-E.

My EVO Plus is not recognizable on RVE10 motherboard, like chameleon. Excellent, like part of motherboard.
