Once your in the queue there is no max wait time. You’ll be in the queue till the card becomes available even if your 3 month step up window passes. You can cancel and redo step up if your still in your 3 month window. If you cancel the queue after the 3 month window then your out of luck.

There is no maximum waiting time in the queue and unfortunately we can not provide estimates for how long anyone will be in the queue.

You are probably going to get charged a restocking fee for returning. Next time, read and understand what you are signing up for. There is a giant red notice saying the step up queue will be longer than normal for the 20xx series cards, so you were warned and you evidently ignored the message. Also, this belongs in the step up section.

Moving to EVGA Step-Up Program section You get to use your current "new card" while you wait your turn for the Step-Up --- you have to request your Step-Up when your eligible Step-up is Not cheaper than waiting to buy what you want .... you get to pay for shipping & taxes again Step-Up is not a Short-Cut to the front of the line https://www.evga.com/support/stepup/

Some people are hopeful we will start seeing them end of october or november. I've also heard people predicting as far out as march so strap yourself in. Also you wont see anything telling you you're getting close it'll be a surprise!

I would guess, and it’s is strictly a guess, within 2 months. NVidia needs to send out the boards so EVGA can get them out together, so NVidia is the biggest delay overall.

I'd expect longer than two months. When I did my last launch Step-Up (to the 780) it took four months. This one even has a notice that it's going to take a long time, so I wouldn't be surprised if people are going to be in the queue for much longer than that. They're probably more cards being shipped for step-up then there was back then, though. I think they were moving like five cards a week after the 780 launch.

How does this work: If I step up my 1080 to 2080 which was listed for $600 and I wait in queue for 5 months and the price drops from $600 to $400 while I'm waiting, will I have to pay the difference for the old price or the new price?

No the price you pay for the step up is based off what you paid for the original card. So if you paid $600 for the 1080 then that $600 goes towards the card you want to step up to.

I think he means the item being stepped up to, not the one being stepped up from. And I actually ask this question myself.

I'd like to point out that the 20XX series of cards have far more components than last years video card series so it takes more time and complexity to build. Demand right now exceeds supply.

Waiting for the 2080 black as well, put my step up in back on Sept 6th. But without any games using the ray tracing or DLSS I guess waiting is ok.

Looking at techpowerup.com the chip in the XC Black is the TU104-400A-A1 which is the binned chip. The card should be able to be overclocked just as high as the others in the line, just EVGA isn't overclocking it nearly as much as the XC ultra or FTW3 models. If it wasn't the binned chip I think I'd be a little more concerned, but I think it should be just fine for overclocking. Depends on your particular chip and how well you can keep it cool. Here is to hoping that EVGA releases a hybrid kit compatible with the XC Black.

On the store page it lists the card as coming with a free trim kit. I was wondering if when you finished the step-up if they asked what color trim kit you wanted to get? Or do they just put in black trim for these cards. I'd really love to get a white trim kit.

Step ups are not combined with other offers, so you may want to ask evga if they are offering the trim kit with step ups.

The Step Up units come with the stock Trim color advertised. ( 2070 black will be black trim, 2080 and 2080 ti will be white All the units are now updated to Black trim) If you want a different color you should apply for the trim kit promotion https://www.evga.com/articles/01262/evga-trim-kit-promotion/ as the trim returned with your card needs to be the stock color as well.
