    Jesus!

thank you...so far everything looks good,
and finally the XMP Profiles work, though the menu doesn't list DDR3 2400, only up to 1866...

first run through, but it seems fine...

First of all, a big thank you for re-supporting the SR-X flagship after a year of silence.

: It boots and configures without any problems.

: Though I have equipped the board with two Xeon E5-2687W v2 running at 3.4/4 GHz, the multiplier of each core only varies from 12 (idle) to 34 (load), even with only a single core active. In the setup Turbo Boost is enabled. According to the processor's spec that should be 40 (x 100 MHz = 4 GHz).

: The Intel Turbo Boost Technology remains disabled, regardless what you do in the setup.

    A great pity

Updated now. It's ok.I have 2 xeon 2687W and my turbo enabled works very well on all cores (3,4 on 32 threads now).
Also my CORSAIR 1866 DDR3 now work very well by correct XMP Profile (before it they worked 1600 by always XMP Profile).
    Well done EVGA from ITALY.

If you speak about the 2687Wv2 with Turbo Boost enabled, the frequency should be 4 GHz (and not only 3.4 GHz) if there is full load on one core only.
    See http://ark.intel.com/compare/64582,76161,81909
    This unfortunately does not work.
The maximum frequency is always 3.4 GHz (18% less than 4 GHz).

OK I understand, your 2687W(v1) XEONs are in the left column and my 2687Wv2 XEONs are in the right column of the Intel comparison chart: [http://ark.intel.com/compare/64582,76161]. So jobs using all kernels simultaneously will run at 3.1 GHz on your and at 3.4 GHz on my XEONs.

With Turbo Boost enabled, single kernel jobs should run at 3.8 GHz on your and at 4.0 GHz on my XEONs.

The 3.4 GHz you could measure on your system might indicate a reduced load on some of the kernels.
A really good news as it shows Turbo Boost is in deed working on your 2687W(v1) XEONs.

Unfortunately, my 2687Wv2 XEONs never exceed the 3.4 GHz.
So, Turbo Boost is effectively disabled on the 2687Wv2 XEONs,
regardless what I enable or disable in the BIOS.

I have 2 2687w's, the first rev...and in turbo boost runs @ around 3.8 GHz.
    This is confirmed by cpuZ.

Matter of fact it was the case with the previous bios, v.20 - only difference was in that there was no option in the menu to enable/disable TurboBoost, it was enabled through other means (which I forget at this point).

Have you set your power scheme to maximum performance?

Thank You, this was the solution. I was not aware that Microsoft's balanced energy scheme effectively disables Intel's Turbo Boost.
Could it be Microsoft misses the balance between manpower and horsepower?

BTW: I could find some useful tools to check the Turbo Boost state:
"Intel Turbo Boost Technology Monitor" and
            "TMonitor" from CPUID

Though these tools only support one physical processor, especially TMonitor shows the multiplier or clock speed of each kernel.

Here are some useful articles about Turbo Boost:

Just upgraded the BIOS, and my REVODRIVE3 X2 connected on PCI Slot 1 wont boot anymore.

I see it posting on BIOS, and see it as HDD bootable option inside BIOS, but it wont boot

    Checking.....

Impossible to boot my REVODRIVE3 X2.
Went back to old Bios (020, I never ran 0.08 because it had all these issues with Turbo, etc)
REVODRIVE3 X2 didnt boot anymore, somehow Windows got corrupted or the Windows Boot Loader broke.
Went back to BIOS 1.03 again and are reinstalling Windows right now.

What a disappointment with this board, really.

Update: I had to reinstall Windows,,, now it seems that all on-board devices are detected and got drivers easier than before.
There is still the issue with multiple RAID cards (I had the issue with all the BIOS I tested, when if you connect two RAID cards, one of them seems to be not detected, randomly), seems to be a PCI Resource conflict issue of some sort. That issue alone has been making me court ASUS lately.
Who knows,, maybe EVGA support here can tell us how to force resources on the PCI Lanes at will and avoid the unexpected results.

So far BIOS 1.03 is being working fine here, (after reinstalling Windows, of course).
Still, too much trouble with this board, always,, since day 1.

Re: SRX 1.03 BIOS released 2015/01/08 23:41:20 (permalink)
Does seem to be running smoothly, after a few USB hiccups, my keyboard kept disconnecting until reinstalling some usb 3.0 hubs thru device manager. For a while I thought it was another bunked BIOS. May have to do with low level firmware updates since I came from a much older BIOS

However, coming from the 20 BIOS, my ram is now seen as 1333 on this new BIOS instead of 1600 which is what it used to be in the older BIOS. I'm on Dual Xeon 2650s with kingston ECC REG ram 32 GB   Is there a memory setting that I'm missing? Why am I downclocked to 1333?

I'm also still dealing with the issue that Windows sees my CPU cores as unknown devices even though cpu-z see them as xeons... Been trying all year to figure that one out.. multiple reinstalls, insane amounts of research,  etc... It was an issue I brought up a while ago on these forums but no one had any info on that specific issue.. I believe it is what causes a few of my games to crash on startup. The render fine when I do my 3D work, but I believe some apps require some sort of cpu id to function, hence them not starting up. Also FYI, the CPUS did show up as normal when I first installed them, so perhaps it is a bios thing? No clue there.

I've never used the SAS ports due to their horrid reviews.. I'd love to since my raid array takes over my sata ports. Can anyone confirm a solid RAID setup through the SAS now? If so, would it be safe to transfer my current HDDs to SAS without losing the array?

    Thanks!!

Update, went in and had to custom set my RAM to be seen as 1600... Not sure why that had to be forced.. Working fine under my settings that comply to this ram.

    Update:

Had to roll back to the 20 BIOS because my USB ports kept coming in and out, it was infuriating, all devices would constantly connect/disconnect... both USB 2 and 3... You can imagine how annoying that could be. The second I flashed back to 20 BIOS, all USB hubs worked normally, and all hubs and controllers come up as they should in device manager. I tried, I really wanted the UEFI new style and other options, but the 20 bios is still the most stable I've used.

I appreciate EVGA coming out with new BIOS revisions on their discontinued Mobos but what's the point if they keep having random serious issues?

    Good afternoon, my friend
I didn't know you could run the Intel Xeon processors version V2 on EVGA SRX, so I'd like to do this upgrade in my EVGA SRX also and I wonder if you can give me the link of bios to upgrade my motherboard for these versions of processors.

I just use the latest official 1.03 BIOS from "Support" -> "Drivers and BIOS" on this site.
Take care to update the BIOS first, and then replace the processors. The V2 will not boot from any previous BIOS.

Xeon E5 2620 to E5 2687Wv2 to change back and forth.
SRX with E5 2620 runs, with E5 2687Wv2 not working
reinstall bios 101. ALL the same. Post code AC.
After all I have been working with E5 2620.
How to solve the problem with E5 2687Wv2 ?

Fixed. It can also be downloaded at Support->Drivers and BIOS. It is under the Intel C606 Family.
