Hello everybody, hope you could help me. Bought a new GA Classified SR-2, with 2x Xeon 5645 6core. Build it, startet it, -> Blackscreen. Running, but seeing nothing. Checked everything. Now the interesting part begins. CPU-Jumper both ON -> Starting, but Blackscreen CPU-Jumper 0 = ON CPU-Jumper 1 = OFF -> Running CPU-Jumper 0 = OFF CPU-Jumper 1 = ON -> Running Konfiguration: Prozessor: 2x Xeon E5645 2,40 GHz Mainboard: EVGA Classified SR-2 DDR: 12x 4GB Kingston DDR3-1333 (got from Reference-list) Cooler: 2x Noctua NH-U12P HDD: Sata WD 1000GB Grafic: EVGA GF GTX 550TI 1024 MB DDR5 PSU: Club 3D CSP-X1200CS 1200 W DVD-RW: Samsung would be so kind if you help me :) ----for German help---- ich hoffe, Ihr könnt mir weiterhelfen. Ich habe ein EVGA Classified SR-2 Mainboard erworben. Hier habe ich nun das Problem, das ich es zwar mit einem Prozessor zum Laufen bekomme, jedoch nicht mit Zweien. Fehlerdefinition: CPU-Jumper beide ON -> PC läuft an, Bildschirm bleibt schwarz. CPU-Jumper 0 = ON CPU-Jumper 1 = OFF -> Läuft CPU-Jumper 0 = OFF CPU-Jumper 1 = ON -> Läuft Konfiguration: Prozessor: 2x Xeon E5645 2,40 GHz Mainboard: EVGA Classified SR-2 Arbeitsspeicher: 12x 4GB Kingston DDR3-1333 (lt. Referenzliste) Kühler: 2x Noctua NH-U12P HDD: Sata WD 1000GB Grafik: EVGA GF GTX 550TI 1024 MB DDR5 Netzteil: Club 3D CSP-X1200CS 1200 W DVD-RW: Samsung

Sure. Powered both 8 pin, and both 6pin. Tested removing both 6pin, just running with both 8pins, same effect. permanent Code FF :( Tried also removing and changing the Ram. Still the same.

Although the 1200 W power supply might seem more than adequate, it is (theoretically) possible that power to some devices could be insufficient because of the way that the power is distributed in your PSU. Specifically the EPS 12V (4+4 pin) and the PCIE 12V (6+2 pin) could be competing for power if both connections are from the same rail and if this particular rail has limited amperage. I don't know whether this is your problem but it should be easy enough to test by using EPS and PCIE connections that are known to originate from different rails. Best regards RP

Power Supply Specs are here. hxxp://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Club_3D/CSP-X1200CB/2.html 4x12 V @ 40A each. Checked differend cable-combinations..... Nothing Checked with only one ram @ each Processor.......Nothing Updated Bios to A54 and also A56......Nothing CPU 0 single is running CPU 1 single is running Both .... not running, so i think, the CPU's are ok. Could there be an other reason, causing this? or is it RMA? (DOA) :(

Answer from EVGA Support: if each CPU is working for its own it should also run in dual mode. Is the board installed in a case? What I have seen you do also run big cooling blocks for the CPU. If the board is bent too much the lanes can loose connection and it can occur an issue like this. I would suggest to run the board outside of the case on the box and take a look that the cooler are not installed too strong and have a look if it will boot then. Are the CPUs you do use normal Retail CPUs or engeneering samples? For testing I would also suggest to connect only the 8 pin power connecotrs to the PCUs. Do the board go straight to FF or do it pass post codes before? Did you proof both sockets if there might is a bent pin inside? ... Trying this today.

I just revived an old SR-2 that got killed or so we thought. Turned out the LAN controllers were toast from lightning. Desoldered them and encountered this exact same issue. You sir... Are a legend! Thank you. I had a bent pin and fluff in the socket.
