Hi all, who here still runs an SR2 Classified. I managed to get hold of one and soo far all well. I have 96Gb ram running, 2 x 5675. Any tips and tricks. What coolers are you running.

    Hi !
    have 2x SR-2 with EK Cpu waterblock.
    Use water/glycol for cars 50/50 ,10 years old and still working.
    Ssd's in raid0 with raidcard was a good upgrade.

    Not use them anymore unfortunatly.
    They make to much heat.
    Still have all my WC gtx 580 on a shelf, looking good 😉
    Maby do a retro SR-2 with 4 WC GTX 580 just for fun in future

    That is cool mate, nice setup. I will be holding on to mine. Even for an old build, it is still snappy. I have ssd's in mine. Runs nice.

    My SR-2 Classified rig is air cooled. Using a pair of NH-D15 coolers and 2 pair of NF-A15 PWM fans.
    They are HUGE but do a good job extracting the heat from the Xeon CPUs.
     
    I'm in the process of a second SR-2 build... building a nearly exact duplicate of my original rig... prior to my "upgrade" to Windows 10.
     
    If you are looking for a cost effective RAID SATA/SAS controller check out Areca ARC-1280ML series. You can pick them up used on eBay for under $100... they can be configured for up to 24 ports and 2GB of DDR2 ECC Cache...just add some SSDs!
     
    Out of curiosity, what case are you using? The HPTX form factor motherboard cases are kind of difficult to find these days.

    Anidees has some "XL" cases that fit HPTX boards.  Mountain mods is still around too though their flash configurator is not usable anymore lol.  I have an old lian-li and little devil V8 for mine.

    I modded XL/E-atx cases.
