Given the underwhelming performance of the 3080/3090.. do you guys think two 2080ti's would beat out the 3090?

    Considering that SLI support is changing next year, you probably don't want to run SLI for gaming purposes.

    SLI is dead and has been since probably the 680/690 cards.. Also Nvidia has already announced that they are going to be stopping support for traditional SLI (no longer creating SLI profiles) here in the near future in favor of building it directly into the games. Given all of this and the other complications related to SLI it would not be wise to do anything with SLI. 

    In regards to the 3080 and 3090, if all you are doing is gaming I would not purchase the 3090 it really offers nothing over the 3080, https://youtu.be/Xgs-VbqsuKo. Assuming that you have a 2080ti already I really dont see a valid reason to upgrade to a 3080. IMO the 3080 is overkill for 1440p and really still cant deliver 120 FPS at 4k so whats the point, card has no real purpose? Save your money and wait for the 4000 series GPU's to come out... My guess is that they will be the first GPU that can handle 4k gaming and monitors will be cheaper by than as well.

    Even 3080 is going to be better I'd have to imagine.

    I ran SLI before the 9 series cards but it was just a pain.  It would always untoggle in the settings and I would have to check every week or so to make sure it was still enabled.  When I upgraded to a 980Ti I stopped running SLI and have never looked back.
