SC17 with G-Symc

I bought a new SC17 with G-Sync.  G-Sync works fine and the trackpad actually seems improved (a bit more slippery and the left/right clicks are easier than the last unit which is a very welcome change).
 
One odd thing is that the fans seem to come on more often and spin faster, so I hear the fans more even when just doing light web browsing.  It reminds me of the behavior of the Razer Blade Pro where the fans spin up and quickly spin back down. 
 
Is this expected/normal for this new SC17 with G-Sync?
 
Also, Nvidia's Battery Boost in GeForce Experience is busted on this laptop.  It has no effect when on battery.  Is this an Nvidia issue or an EVGA issue?

    If it was me I'd call EVGA tech support it looks like a hardware issue.
