Was in the middle of a presentation today and my laptop rebooted on its own and stuck on the EVGA splash screen. Tried a hard reboot but just gets back to splash screen. Got into BIOS and that my m.2 drive is now missing, as in the BIOS says there is nothing in that port. Obviously this is what Windows was installed on and hence why it not getting past the splash screen.

Any thoughts here? Does opening it up to check the drive void warranty? At the time it was literally just sitting on a desk not even being touched. Anyone else have that issue? Only had for about 3 months now.

Popping the bottom off and checking the drive should not void the warranty, we're allowed to change drives etc.
Let us know what's going on!

I did upgrade bios, once this happened, to 1.06 (from 1.05) but no change.

It is possible your ssd died, it is rare but it does happen.  You can open up the laptop remove the NVMe drive and then put it back in and see if it works.  If not contact support.

Well, popped in a new Samsung 960 Evo 500gb and it recognized it right away. Interesting side note, about 3/4 of the screws on the bottom of the laptop were loose and part way out...

Also have two friends with an SC17. They just looked at the screws on theirs, both were missing one screw and about 1/2 of their screws were loose.

Tighten them up.  You will find later that they are loose again.   I think it is a thermal expansion/contraction thing which these metal laptops are prone to experience which causes the screws to loosen up.  I notice that my all-metal Razer Blade laptop does the same thing.

yeah i use the blue lock tite on my RB, since the screens are tiny and prone to come loose.
