I have trouble connecting to wifi point that can be easily connected by other devices. The only way I can increase the range is to turn off bluetooth. I would prefer to keep bluetooth on because i'm currently using a bluetooth mouse. Is there anything i can do to increase the range without turning off bluetooth?

I agree that wifi reception is an issue with this laptop. I have also seen others report the same. I think it is a design issue regarding the antenna placement inside its metal case.

I will need to try the bluetooth disable trick. Sounds like they may be interfering with eachother due to signals bouncing around inside its metal case. I noticed poor signal quality and low link bandwidth, but assumed there was nothing I could do.

Issue resolved! After much frustration I decided to open up the laptop to check on the wifi/bluetooth adapter. Sure enough one of the antenna wire was not connected to the adapter, you would not be able to know this since there is a black tape covering the connection area. I reconnected the wire, place the tape back on, and now wifi reception is great even with bluetooth on.

Thank you for posting that followup! I have the same problem... Wifi range is pretty much the worst I have ever seen on any device. Fingers crossed that the same fix works for me.

@kdthai86 -- the black antenna wire was loose under my tape too! Snapped it on, but I have to go to the pub to see if signal is better. ;)

Pub test verifies wifi is FIXED! Bluetooth is on and I see more wifi than I used to with BT off--the same set I am used to seeing on other devices. Performance seems better too. I never did a speed test before, but I did have lots of problems with my SC17 in this location with dropped connections, and that isn't happening now.

I might have to check if I have a loose antenna cable as well, the wifi is OK.. but I had expected better speed and range from an AC card with my router. my desktop with an AC card got much better signal and speed.
