What I am taking from this launch is the price for cores Intel has had a huge premium on price for cores and limits on pci-e lanes, now that AMD has released chips with more cores or the same amount of cores for less should give Intel the kick to lower prices for there CPUs.

real competition has been able to keep prices lower while providing improvements over time

my existing cpu has 4 cores and 8 threads and it does its job fine, no game saturates it

Will be waiting on Intel yet again it looks like, the new Ryzen is still lagging behind when it comes to gaming.

You already have a 9900k, if you are waiting for something better from Intel when it comes to gaming you will be waiting a long time.... 2 years at least... But now that I think about it your 9900k should be fine until then, heck I know people that still use 2600k for gaming.

Based on the reviews it appears that the 3900 from AMD is better at tasking but the Intel 9900K is still slightly better at gaming. Still AMD has come a long way and is closing the gap at a faster pace.

Everyone will defend Intel because highest turbo clock again give little advantage in single threaded performance.
But people difference is so small now and AMD is so much better in multi threaded applications and so close on 4K resolution...
really no reason to so small difference in fps cause wrong decision.
But people with limited budget, think 5 times before you pull trigger.
Intel is unpredictable we didn't had chance to see how they work under pressure long time, maybe they have better technology, maybe not.
10 core Intel for less then 400$ with PCI-E 4.0 and only 10% improvement per core is completely different situation.

X570 with the 3000 series processors handle JEDEC DDR4-3200 max

I read that you want to go as close as possible to 3600 ram to match the speed of the infinity fabric thus giving you the max best results.

Looks like intel is still the king of gaming.

Only just barely depending on the game.
Still if you could not afford a X570 motherboard you could pair a MSI Tomahawk B450 with a Ryzen 7 3700 or R5 3600 with a bios Update you are going to be running a rather awesome system without breaking the bank.
Plus this is still early days for x570 so once bios revisions and updates come its going to be a very viable platform for some time to come even with PCIE5 and DDR5 right around the corner.

Man these reviews are making my decision tough.  It seems like a 3900X on X570 would be a smarter choice since I'd likely only possibly upgrade the CPU in the next few years (whatever ends up being the last thing that will go in an X570/AM4 socket) and my GPU to 2nd gen RTX cards.  I might be able to get a 9900K through a friend that works at Intel though and that would be much cheaper than retail, and the mobo is about $100 cheaper.  I just have to deal with a space heater in that case, and hope games/etc. don't get more multi-thread dependent than the 9900K could handle after a few years.  I was going to go custom water for whatever I buy, but I've heard the 9900K still gets really toasty even on full custom loops :(   I was originally looking at a 9700K anyway partly due to that, but bumped up the price range when I saw the 3900X figuring 12/24 threads would be worth it.  I guess I could always do that 3700X and still get a bunch of savings though.

The 3700X isnt too shabby, I would go with that if you are not fussed about the extra cores on the 3900X
It will still be more then enough for photoshop/games and the like

Yeah I think at this point I need to see X570 reviews especially about the noise levels of the chipset fan.  Already heard a few things about them being really noisy.

I saw a review with Jayztwocents and he clocked both the 9900k and the 3900x at 4GHz and saw that the single core performance per clock acually goes to AMD. However AMD is still behind on getting it's clock speed up. As Intel can boost up to 5GHz + AMD can only do about 4.7GHz when the 3950X comes out in September. here is his review. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tNH9FYgW8m4

If you use my code let me know so i can thank you via pm.

Ya AMD has a definite IPC advantage now, no one is debating that. Intel still has its clock speed advantage with its old reliable 14nm +++. Unfortunately Intel 10nm doesn't clock well, so Intel will carry on with 14nm +++ until they can increase IPC enough to make up the difference, when Intel does launch 10nm or 7nm desktop parts they most likely will be much lower clocked, just with a big IPC increase so it won't matter.
