Ok, so a little update.
Most stuff is inhouse, but the GTX 1070 SC2 ICX i bought, it hasn't been send yet. It takes ages for them to be available.

this weekend i had migraine ...... so after a little while busy with huge headache i quit for the weekend. Today i picked up the custom made glass top, and will be on my way finishing the project soon.
Sorry for the delay people.

So, it has been a while, but like rjohnson11 said, i don't want to rush it.
 
I'm still waiting for the GTX 1070, damn miners !!!
 
The desk itself is almost finished, only have to drill some holes for cables and stuff, but most is allready done. And painting ofcourse. [pics will follow soon]. Then all the components need to go in. And some sleeving.
 
I had a little summerbreak with the family, and some nessesary work to do in the garden too. So that came first.
My son build his first PC on the holiday, put all his savings in the rig. That was fun to do together.

There we are again.
 
Here some pics of today. After i uploaded these pics, i will be paining the inside of the desk.
It will be done wth black concrete paint from Ruwol. It's a good high quality paint, and very sustainable.
 
Because there will be metal parts in the desk, this paint is very hard to scratch, water resistance and almost indestuctible. .
The outside will be painted with Wijzonol semi-gloss white, same as the furniture.

This will be the paint used for the inside.

 
This tool i use for clean outsides, without filling the holes for the screws.
It's a biscuit joiner, together with pocket holes, the outside of the desk stays clean, and ALWAYS detachable, without filling and sanding. I use it on all my builds. 

 
The holes on the side still need to be drilled, but for that i need a big hole-saw, and can be done later.
Still not sure what to use as fanfilter or grill.
 
That's it for now, i'm going to paint the inside now !!

Whatever you decide make sure it can be easily cleaned for dust buildup.

grill stops thing from poking thru
mesh/screen catches dust
 
is why i say both
 
be nice if,
grill is recessed and a screen fits flush
or could reverse that, screen fits little losely into a recess and grill fits over it, but in a way that it can tilt open for screen cleaning access
 
being wood, maybe some sort of a thin decorative over lay as a the grill.... like those old 60's-70's home tv/stereo consoles (wish I had one)

And another update
 
Have been busy sleeving, mounting and test fitting parts. Had to take my "old" pc a part for some parts needed, and create brackets for the H100i V2 (GTX) and many other little things.
The new graphic card is on it's way now, and it is a EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 SC2 GAMING, 08G-P4-6583-KR.
The GTX 1070 sc2 wasn't availible yet, so i dicided to go for the 1080 SC2. I had to reach a bit futher in the pocket for it, but is arriving in about 2-3 days, so yeah, it's worth it.
I'm very lucky with my wife who supports me in this project and is willing to sacrifice many of the hours taken for this build.
 
At the moment we are using my sons new rig...... lol. Because our one can't be used anymore, as it is taken apart.
 
As i had to get back to work for the past 2 weeks, time is limited to work on the project. As i need to attent my wife and son too with some quality time.
With 11 hours a day away for work, time is not my best friend in this project sadly.
 
Pics will be taken this weekend, as i hope the 1080 will arrive on Saturday, otherwise Monday.

I have to say, cable sleeving can be a drag !! lol.
The cables still have to be placed in a fashionable way, but i will do that ones everything is hooked up and running. That's way easier to sort everything out with mounting the cables.

Well, the 1080 has been shipped today, so i hope i will get it tomorrow !!!
Than we can get all the bits and pieces together.

The 1080 came in today. I installed the card and windows 10.
The memory runs like a charm at 2993 Mhz form the XMP profile.
Next thing is to install all the drivers, the HDD's and make the lid. I have miscalculated a bit after i changed some last moment measurements, but that has been fixed now. And for the best also
The card looks very good and clean. It fits the build perfect !!!

Nice move on the 1080.  I had purchased an EVGA GTX 1070 SC2 from Newegg and paid way too much, like $479 and wound up finding the 1080 via the EVGA Step-Up program when it was $509 so was a no brainer to trade it in and move up another notch.

Looking forward to the update with the 1080.

Here is a little update again.
Sorry for the long wait, but sometimes things everything is coming at once. And these things are the first things to come to a hold at those times.
 
I've been fiddling with the AMD Ryzen 1600X, and found a sweet spot for overclock. 4141 Mhz on all cores. But that was not the best i could get.

But things have come to a halt on the build. I've got the lid almost done.
