Don't worry, a great looking mod is not rushed....

So, it has been a while, but like rjohnson11 said, i don't want to rush it.

I'm still waiting for the GTX 1070, damn miners !!!

The desk itself is almost finished, only have to drill some holes for cables and stuff, but most is allready done. And painting ofcourse. [pics will follow soon]. Then all the components need to go in. And some sleeving.

I had a little summerbreak with the family, and some nessesary work to do in the garden too. So that came first.
My son build his first PC on the holiday, put all his savings in the rig. That was fun to do together.

This mining craze has really hurt a lot of legitimate gamers trying to get a hold of mid to upper level video cards.

There we are again.

Here some pics of today. After i uploaded these pics, i will be paining the inside of the desk.
It will be done wth black concrete paint from Ruwol. It's a good high quality paint, and very sustainable.

Because there will be metal parts in the desk, this paint is very hard to scratch, water resistance and almost indestuctible. .
The outside will be painted with Wijzonol semi-gloss white, same as the furniture.

The pics :

Front view of the desk.

Overview of the inside of the desk.

Holes for the cables.

I/O holes for motherboard and graphics card.

Front of the desk with power button hole and art deco mounting points.

All the holes made for wiring.

This will be the paint used for the inside.

This tool i use for clean outsides, without filling the holes for the screws.
It's a biscuit joiner, together with pocket holes, the outside of the desk stays clean, and ALWAYS detachable, without filling and sanding. I use it on all my builds.

The holes on the side still need to be drilled, but for that i need a big hole-saw, and can be done later.
Still not sure what to use as fanfilter or grill.

That's it for now, i'm going to paint the inside now !!

Whatever you decide make sure it can be easily cleaned for dust buildup.

Very true fan filters are only good if they are cleaned and a grill only would be good if you plan to open it up and dust the whole thing out.

The build so far is kind of reminding me of a friends old computer build. He put a computer in an old X-Men Arcade cabinet. It was pretty much just a standing desk that had X-Men arcade artwork on the side. It would have been cooler if it was the arcade. None of the buttons or joysticks worked with a PC so he removed them and just had a flat black desktop with mouse and keyboard. I guess it's still a cool build but always seemed like something was off playing PC games on an arcade machine with mouse and keyboard.

grill stops thing from poking thru
mesh/screen catches dust

is why i say both

be nice if,
grill is recessed and a screen fits flush
or could reverse that, screen fits little losely into a recess and grill fits over it, but in a way that it can tilt open for screen cleaning access

being wood, maybe some sort of a thin decorative over lay as a the grill.... like those old 60's-70's home tv/stereo consoles (wish I had one)

And another update. The desk is painted and some parts installed.
The pics are a bit on the darkside, but the lighting on the addic isn't the best for pictures.
Better ones will come when the whole thing  is in the livingroom.

Oh, and dust is no problem, just pop up the hood and go through it with my air-compressor. Did and still do that every month on my pc. Keeps them clean as if they where new. It's just 5 minutes of work.

The supports for the desk (one finished, one to be made.

Front and sides painted white.

Motherboard mounted. Inside of the desk painted black.

Final test fit for the fans.

Another one of the MB.

Top View.

Front decal and power button.

For the grills i will be making something like the rest of the furniture.
The idea is to make shutters. It will be a hell of a job.....

Yesterday i had nothing to do, so i was just fiddling around with some plexiglass.......30 minutes later i made this.
Mayby i'll do something with it in the desk. Not the rose, but ........
