Do you have to use the first pci express slot when running a single graphics card? Id like to move my card to the bottom so it isnt sitting right on top of the M.2 slot.

You can run the card in any pci-e slot you want. I always recommend using the first pci-e slot as other slots may make the card run at x8 instead of x16.

Had to figure out what motherboard you were running. You definitely don't want to use any other slots but 1 or 2. Slots 4 & 6 will run your gpu at x4 and x1.

Thanks Sajin, do you think on the classified k board with the m2 drive installed right below a 1080 that there would be a heat issue?

I think you'll be fine as long as your case has good airflow.

I have the K as well. I have been running a Samsung 950 Pro in the m.2 slot under my 1070 with an ACX style cooler for over 6 months now without any noticeable heat issues (I haven't experienced any thermal throttling of the SSD). I even fold with that card, often for days at a time, so if it was going to cause a heat issue I think it would have by now.

you can also run your m.2 drive in the bottom m.2 slot, it will take up to a 80mm long drive, just check to see what it disables when you use it.

Is the difference noticable using a x16 or x8 slot?
I sort of have the same question(sorry for borrowing the thread) but my problem is when i changed to aircooler(from Corsair H100i V2) because i wanted a more silent rig
i bought a Cryorig R1 Ultimate and the cooler kind of "lean" on the gpu and it transfer the heat between the gpu and the cpu-cooler by direct contact :(
