I saw this rumor earlier on Tweaktown. Personally I believe that 20 to 24 GB of memory would be restricted to the professional cards. 10GB over a 320 bit bus sounds very interesting. However NVIDIA needs to find a cost competitive release of its next gen video card in my opinion.

if we use the specs from the OP - then the card only does a modest boost 50% at most with 50% less power use

800 more cuda cores is like 25%-30 more cores with 15-20% clock increase

if you add 2000 more cores to turing 2080 you get 70% boost with 20% boost clocks - ie the specs above
we be close to 100% boost over turing

as for the ram i expected that kind of increase - the hpc should like have 96GB HBM
so even if you cut it to 1/2 or 13 you could set 3080ti with 24-32GB of ram

1/2 of GA100 is 48GB and they dabbled with a 1/2 version of the full die(ga101) which they won't be going with
    1/2 of that is 24GB

that will also mean no real price decreases because of the increase ram on the card
specially with dram prices going up

my suspicious feeling are that the Original story is about the midline cards not the high end
more 3070 or 3060 and not 3070ti or higher

    leaker may have incorrect info

    update

    • GA102 7GPC*6TPC*2SM 384bit
    • GA103 6GPC*5TPC*2SM 320bit
    • GA104 6GPC*4TPC*2SM 256bit
    • GA106 3GPC*5TPC*2SM 192bit
    • GA107 2GPC*5TPC*2SM 128bit

meaning there may be a low power and high power version

want to move 3070 to high end and 16GB of ram
    3080 to get 20GB
    3080ti to get 24GB

maybe expect super and ti on all the mid and upper end
so high power mode and more core is still possible based off the original die

the initial versions will be cut down

TU102 and TU104 specs for comparison:

    https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/nvidia-tu102.g813

    https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/nvidia-tu104.g854

Are the new cores much more powerful or something?  Because the full TU104 is already 3072 cores.

Nvidia sales pitch hype rumor. I dont believe anything they say😼

Those who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags! The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way.

At the end of the day a good RTX 3080 will be about as powerful as a decent 2080 Ti and cost about $850-900.  I'm OK with that.

To be honest, i dont doubt it. 4k is a norm now. I cant say the same for 8k. For an AMD 5600 to have 14gb i cant imaging the 5800, 5900, and.5950 series memory size. There is something about the tech of the new GPUs that will be using more memory than previous series. It is something to look for and consider.😼

4K is the norm now?  Do you even read what you type?  I don't think so...

P.S. - Stop spamming the threads with your nonsense again.  You keep spewing the same ol like a broken record.  This isn't a clicbait site with a crappy comment section at the bottom.  It's getting really tiring since you bring no substance to the conversation other than bash Intel and Nvidia.

Also, its pretty useless to have lots of VRAM if you don't have a screen to fully utilize it so I think the whole lots of VRAM hype train needs to come down a bit.

Bring on the VRAM. Got my notification my phone about this rumor earlier today. I skipped the 2xxx series to wait for 3xxx series. So far these rumors look juicy, but again, they are just that... rumors.

So i'll take them with a grain of salt tbh. That said, I look forward to upgrade. :)

I can see 4K being the norm with OLED monitors right around the corner.  Just like $600-$900 for a decent single GPU these dayz, were not going to see a decent GPU for $500 that can do 4K, Nvidia is milking it, has been since the gpu mining raze craze horsecarp, I dont blame Nvivida for milking dumbazzes. Now we just have to deal with with the aftermath, Nvivida can give us a single gpu that can do 4K, activesync @ 60-120FPS, than Id gladly pay Nvidia's milk money for said single gpu that can...

The 1080 and 1070 had 8GB while their workstation equivalents had double.  Same for the 2080 and 2070.  Would not be surprised to see the 3080 move up to 10GB.  Memory prices are much lower now than when the 2080 first went into production.  The new titan card ($3000) will probably have something like 32GB and the 3080Ti ($1500 and up) will have 14GB.

How much VRAM do you really need at 1080p, 1440p and 4K?

    +1

I don't mind seeing double the VRAM from the current 2080 Tis but at what cost?  VRAM or at least DDR6 prices will be high I've been hearing.  If they can cut costs and still give us something around 12GB of VRAM, I say why not?

4K gaming screens won't be the norm till 4K prices with all the bells and whistles are down to the $200-$300 range which we won't see for a long time since they're still $1200+.  1080p is still the norm with 1440p slowly inching closer while having ways to go.  lol  4K has WAYs to go before it can be qualified as the 'norm' of most household gamers.  On the other hand, consoles will help push that since they will be 4K ready along with affordable 4K TVs as prices continue to plummet and 8K starts making its presense.

Why? Because 4K gaming at 144hz+ on Displayport 2.0 and support of HDMI 2.2

Well I suppose we'll find out later this year either at Computex 2020 or E3 which is a week after Computex.

someone should take a peak at Intels offering

    https://www.techspot.com/article/1975-intel-xe-preview-v2/
Last July, Intel accidentally published a driver (thanks!) that contained three DG2 codenames, iDG2HP128iDG2HP256, and iDG2HP512. Making the reasonable assumption that the three digits at the end indicate the card’s number of EUs, then they’ll have 1024, 2048 and 4096 cores, respectively. That’s two, four and eight slices.

If it didn’t give you an indication, then I’ll spell it out: double precision. It’s basically the first thing on the list for every data center GPU, and Koduri spent a lot of his time discussing it during the reveal. Unfortunately, however, the only number he would put to it is Ponte Vecchio’s per EU theoretical FP64 performance, which is ~40x that of Gen11’s.
Doing some back of a napkin math, that’s about 20 TFLOPs at FP64 per 1024 core card. Don’t take that as gospel though, because there aren’t enough significant figures in the calculation to yield meaningful results.

    ===============================================================================

1024 core DG2 will have about 20TF of compute according to this story
that means the 4096 core monster will have ~80 TF performance

    if you believe the rumor
