That's why I finally had enough and placed a back order through CDW for the Asus Strix 3080 OC. I simply could not take the aggravation anymore. These bots are parked at retailers just waiting to launch as soon as stock arrives it's gone.  I've never seen it this bad before. People are actually making a living using bots to buy all kinds of items and flip for a profit. It's actually like a job for them now. Of course since some can't find what they want, they turn to bots as well compounding the problem.

This is what I did also, it's too bad EVGA couldn't or wouldn't do this

Had an FTW3 in my cart and right when I hit the review order button, it yanked the card from my cart and I never saw it again. 




Yeah, that is worse than not even seeing the drop. You get the whole roller coaster of "Oh my God I got it!" back to "Nah, we were just playin. You are too human to purchase a card."

welp I sold my 2080 ti for good amount bought a evga 2070 super used for nothing think I am going to just wait till we know more about the 20gb version

I did the same.  Although it was a bit pricey and the ETA is apparently Nov/Dec (ouch) even though during checkout it said October.  I also didn't see the Watchdogs/GFNow promo anywhere.  The STRIX better be as good as people are saying it is.  I just had enough of being beholden to feverishly watching websites, forums and twitter every day.  At least now i can chill.  And if i happen to see one of Jacob's tweets and can casually score an FTW3 through the ELITE program, i will and just cancel the back order.  The stress is gone now though.

I followed Feklar's advice and I just back-ordered an EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 FTW3 ULTRA GAMING, sure I paid a premium for it as MSRP is 800 and I paid 1000 but at this point, I think it is not worth the hassle to try and buy from Newegg.

I did this for three main reasons.
 
1. The website crashes and errors getting cards in the cart only to get kicked every time was madding.
2. I think this is going to be a problem way into next year so I don't mind waiting tell Dec if needed. I just know I am on a list.
3. And the people like me asking for a backorder or some kind of different system and not even given a reason or a response like Nivida won't let us or something. Playing wack a bot is not fun.

People are buying them so fast particularly bots that it overwhelms the server so it sells more than its allocated. Which is why each time there are plenty of disappointed people who end up cancelled.

I have not dealt with them before but they are an approved reseller for Asus. Listed on their website.

CDW is absolutely fine. I purchased from them many times. They do a lot of business with companies and have been around since the eighties. They used to a lot of advertising in pc magazines back when there were magazines and we used to read them instead of tablets and phones in the restroom.

I've managed to get a card into into my cart on different websites a couple of times but trying to get through to checkout has not been successful.

Bots are just getting everything, it's like Skynet is raytracing their T-800s before Judgment Day.


The Sales guy from EVGA said it's not really bots.  It's unprecedented, pent-up, low-price, generationally improved 30x0 demand.
Even without bots, there's 50,000+ notification queues in EVGA's own product offerings.  And we're all sitting at our computers 16 hours a day cuz we're geeks.  I was never even interested in the 2000 series, but this 3000 series?  sign me up.

I spent 95 minutes straight trying to throw $1900 at a company. It sucks. But considering the launch issues popping up, maybe it's a good thing to get the second wave. 




the cards arriving by boat are going to be the exact same cards arriving by plane.

You should be ok. With Newegg when the payment is charged, the order set. I bought a lot from them this year and because of the pandemic they are somewhat slower shipping but I always got it.

I couldn't check out either, but look at the bright side.... 60 seconds til OOS is a 5900% increase from launch day... we're getting there bois!
