I have an Asus X99 with (2) GTX 280 dual DVI outputs each. One died. I wanted to replace it with 04G-P4-6255-KR EVGA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti SSC GAMING ACX 3.0, 04G-P4-6255-KR, 4GB GDDR5, DX12. Due to the M2 card I only have a 3.0 x16 and 3.0 x8 slot to use. My question is will the new 1050 and the existing GTX 280 work together to run my 4 monitors with no driver or card issues. I only have (2) 27" and (2) 22" IPS DVI/HDMI monitors running at 1920 x 1080. Thanks for any help.

If you went with a 1060 card you could run all 4 monitors just off that card alone.

Intel i9 9900K @ 5.2Ghz Single HUGE Custom Water Loop.
Asus Z390 ROG Extreme XI MB
G.Skill Trident Z 32GB (4x8GB) 4266MHz DDR4
EVGA 2080ti K|NGP|N w/ Hydro Copper block.
34" Dell Alienware AW3418DW 1440 Ultra Wide GSync Monitor
Thermaltake Core P7 Modded w/ 2x EK Dual D5 pump top,2 x EK XE 480 2X 360 rads.1 Corsair 520 Rad.

No. The 280 requires a different driver that the 1050 cannot run on.

Probably the easiest solution if you don't need to game on one of the monitors is to get a DisplayLink USB to DVI/HDMI adapter. Like so: https://www.amazon.com/Graphics-Adapter-Converter-Windows-Support/dp/B00D5MBQGM/

Then you can run 3 monitors off the 1050 ti (just need a DP to DVI/HDMI cable for one of them) and one off of the USB DisplayLink device.

That or spring for a 1060.

Thanks for the tips, I think I'm going to try and jump up to a EVGA GeForce GTX 1060 SC GAMING, 03G-P4-6162-KR, put all four monitors on one. Thanks again.
