I am still using this card on my new rig, because as we all know, newer cards are impossible to find. The card works just fine and I can run every game I throw at it, 1080p maxed or near. Only issue, the card gets ridiculousy hot. I installed the new bios that tweaks the fan speed, but now the card is as loud as a jet engine. On the original bios, the card is quiet but it goes over 80C in full load which is not very nice especially considering summer is approaching.
I was reading about a thermal pad for this card that was sent out for free to address the thermal issue without resorting to have the single fan on this card max out as soon as the temp reaches 70C, making it uncomfortably loud.

I have two issues though, first of all, I replaced the thermal paste myself, but I did not improve the cooling at all. Second, I removed the sticker with the serial number so now I can't even register my product anymore. Is there anything I can do? Would buying some superior thermal paste and pads online help by reducing the temperatures to under 80C on full load? Right now i used the Arctic MX2 which I had available from my previous build. Would it be possible to buy the replacement thermal pads from EVGA? Any help would be appreciated, the card works just fine and I don't really care if it reaches 80C or more, but I am pretty sure the card will overheat when the summer comes, and even though I want to replace it, it doesn't seem like it's going to happen within the year due to the shortage and Corona Chan.

Anyway, the card was purchased on Amazon several years ago, I don't have the serial number because I lost the stickers but I do have a proof of purchase.

you might have to replace the thermal paste its easy enough if you can get the card open.  https://youtu.be/6HbCY3-tun0

I dont believe the 1060 was one of the cards that got the free thermal pads, that was the 970's but i could be wrong.... i just dont remember hearing about that myself. If you want to control fan speeds on the card use either Precision or MSI Afterburner, which is the preferable software. The serial number is more of a issue, without them it voids the warranty and theres no way for evga to tell you what that cards serial even was.
No you cant buy the pads from evga but you can buy them online in many different thickness',sizes and shapes. Buying top of the line paste and pads will help a little but the fan needs to spin to about 85%, which is about as high as you can get before its annoying, of its full potential to keep the card cool enough unless you turn down all the graphics settings in your games, use vsync and make sure that geforce experience isnt installed. If it is, uninstall it. You may want to install some more intake fans in your case and another exhaust fan if possible that will help the most. Are you willing to mod the case at all?

Like I said before I already replaced the thermal paste, but it didn't help at all. I know that for this card a thermal pad was sent out by EVGA to help with cooling on this card and other cards which had cooling issues at launch. Unfortunately i lost the serial number for my card because I'm dumb.

From what I can tell the card throttles down at over 85C so at 80-82 I should be safe, but still, I'd like to have more margin especially with summer temps here in Italy.

Thank you for your input. The main issue with this card is that my only choices are
    >jet engine mode and 75-80C
    >tolerable mode at 80+C

The newer bioses for this card set the maximum fan speed way higher than the original bios (on the new bios it goes to 7500rpm @ 100% which is absolutely ridiculous in terms of noise, while on the original bios it maxes at around 4500 which is still high but tolerable), but if I download Precision and use a custom curve, then I will end up replicating the original curve, so right now I downgraded to the original bios as I don't really care about OC on this card so I can avoid using Precision. I hoped for some way to reduce the thermals while keeping the fan noise low, but indeed there isn't much I can do with a single fan card. I will look into the recommended thermal pads for the power stages and other stuff and using a better thermal paste for the graphics chip itself.
