Hi
About 6 months ago, my PC mysteriously shut down and rebooted. On PC boot, the G light on the card would start to blink once a second between red and green with the P and M a solid green. Boot would not progress beyond this stage. I suspected it may have been GPU sag due to the 1080Ti being a heavy beast, so I moved it to the upper PCI-E slot on my motherboard and added in a vertical support stand. That worked fine, until last night when I had the same problem. Reseating it used to solve the problem temporarily (though that might have been placebo), but now nothing I do seems to work.
I can probably rule out GPU sag this time. Unfortunately I don't have another PC in which to test the card, or another card to place in this PC to check the PCI-E slots.
Judging by NZXT CAM temps, it's definitely not overheating. Though other threads I've seen about this LED configuration suggest that it might be a faulty sensor on the card? That would certainly explain the shutdown and subsequent refusal to boot, if the card thinks it is overheating and is refusing to work to protect itself.
Other specs:
Motherboard: MSI Z370-A PRO
CPU: Intel i7-8700K
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 8GB x2
PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA G3 750W 80+

The PSU is modular so I was able to try different VGA sockets on the PSU, as well as trying fresh PCI-E cables, but to no avail. The machine POSTs and boots without the GPU installed.
I've got a support ticket open already, but I wanted to see if there was anything else I could try while I'm waiting. I'm very worried that it might not be an issue with the GPU, and could be the PSU and/or MB (PCI-E slot) instead which would result in a much lengthier rebuild, not to mention a lot of waiting for exchanges.
I've also read in other threads about Precision XOC - I've never had this installed, always used the drivers direct from NVIDIA.

    Hi
RMA the only solution here then? Does this definitely signify an issue with the card? As I'm sitting here tempted to buy a 1650 shipped tomorrow as a backup card, and so I can make sure the PCI-E slots are still good.

Looks like it, but contact evga support to see what they have to say.

Update: 1050Ti arrived, all fine. Looks like the 1080Ti is indeed knackered.
Still waiting on a reply on the ticket - I got a confirmation email but I can't see my message on the ticket, just the ones from 6 months ago. The card is just over 2 years into the 3 year warranty - do I have the option of full refund or exchange for something newer, like a 2080 (I'm guessing this is the equivalent?)? I'm not sure I fancy having a refurbished 1080Ti.

No refund. You'll most likely get a recertified 1080 ti, or you could get a 2080.

So I would be able to ask them to send a new 2080 instead?

No, they would only send you a new card if they didn't have any other recertified cards to give out.

    Ah, that's a shame.
Either way, it's good to know for certain where the problem is. Hopefully I get a reply soon, the ticket UI is a bit off and I can't see if the update I posted Sunday night was actually received. Thanks for your help.

Where is this faulty sensor on the card causing the G to flash red/green?
