Howdy.

I've currently got an older intel 330, 240GB SSD that I am looking to upgrade for a larger size.

I'll likely be doing a clone using Macrium as I just don't want to do a reformat and individual install right now.

I'll either get a 500GB or 1TB.. not sure yet... but any recommendations?

AMD Ryzen 5 2600 6-core(3.4Mhz)
EVGA GTX 1660 XC BLACK GAMING, 06G-P4-1161

Crucial MX500 1TB SSD

More specifically, are there any brands or lines to stay away from?   Particularly in terms of reliability?

Should THIS WD green SSD be avoided?

    Is THIS WD blue better?

I like the Samsung Pro series & 512GB used should be available for a reasonable price

80% of my SATA SSD's are Samsung.  The others are Crucial

Both very reliable brands.  I just removed the secondary platter HDD in my laptop and replaced with Crucial.  1TB and very reasonably priced.  Samsung Pro's have better warranties...5 year...

So looks like a samsung or crucial.  Hate having to buy one right now... and pretty sure I want to get 1TB.

Looks like the price difference is about $20 from crucial to Samsung.

    Heh, that was fast.

But the MX500 was going to be my recommendation anyhow. It has a DRAM cache, and the other thing is you don't want QLC NAND. Beyond that it really doesn't matter for 2.5" SSDs anymore, the interface will be the bottleneck.
