I'm using the original Tiamat 7.1 and I'm very happy with them. I love their bass! When they wear out, I will look in this second iteration for sure!

Somehow they'll make it require their God awful software which ruins all their products.

$you can locate these for $99, I have these and like them.

    wireless version for 90 bucks

But 200 bucks isn't too high, audio is 1/3 of the gaming experience.

I also like to use my Bowers&Wilkins with an external DAC and AMP, really gives you a slight edge in some games.

I had the old Razer ProTone 250's and for what they were they killed everything else in the genre (I originally got them for an ipod in 2005ish), and I built a system with their old soundcard and first surround headphones like 10 years ago, and they were better in sound than others at the price point, and actually did the surround effects really well, frankly better than a lot of more current models do.  Obviously it is all subjective but to me the sound positioning was excellent for distance elevation all of it.  I haven't used the newer ones, but I would imagine while somewhat pricey they will likely perform really well.

I got my original tiamat 7.1s for 99 from frys on sale. I love them the only problem I've had is the coating flaking off the ear cups. I just rubbed it all off and I kind of like the feel better so I never bought new ones.
I agree on there drivers are what kind of turned me away from razr when I upgraded, after having most of my peripherals from them

People will spend more money on something they love. You could say the same about sports cards, comic books, even computer parts. My headphones are more expensive to make than an enthusiast cpu but are cheaper, so who's the sucker?
