COOL GTX given the buying climate that probably needs to be as is for now. nothing is actually being done unless it is the odd browsing session or fooling around with old files. I am shocked at what people are getting for Nice 1070 cards on Ebay

You asked for what the weak points are on your rig then defend and retort a critique given? What exactly was the point of this thread then?

I will upgrade CPU and GPU. Granted 1070 is good in.average for a 1440p. I am running on a z87 i7 4970k and 1080ti sc2 hybrid at 1080p at the moment and i can play most games at high settings. I dont have the urge to upgrade but the high.pricing of hardware is pushing me to.upgrade now than later
T hose who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags! The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way. Affiliate Code: 3T15O1S07G

Just trying to see if it is still relevant today and since it sits I will not be paying stupid money for upgrade when GPUs are so expensive

Nothing wrong with the 6700K in gaming. Doing any sort of multi-tasking it will struggle in most modern applications/titles. 5600X or even an 11600K is a worthy upgrade.

Your card is 5 years old (released on May 6, 2016). That is a long time in GPU area. Games in last 5 years are quite demanding. You know there is 2070 and 3070 produced. If you are gamer may I suggest you a game?

For most gaming, the graphics card will be the weak point. If you do anything that's extremely cpu intensive, that could be holding you back as well. An upgrade to the cpu (and consequently the motherboard) and GPU would have you very much up to date, the rest of the hardware should be great. 3000mhz ram is maybe slightly on the low side, but unless you're going for bleeding edge cpu performance, it is probably inconsequential.

Depends on what you're trying to do. For casual gaming at 1440p, you're going to be fine for the most part. You may have to turn down a few graphics settings, but it should keep up decently. If you're trying to run high resolution, high frame rate, and/or VR, your biggest issue at the moment is the 6800K. Broadwell was a significantly weaker gaming CPU due to how it handled its voltage regulation on chip. I can't remember if that's still the case for the Extreme Edition chips, though. It's also going to have a significant IPC disadvantage compared to anything starting at Kaby Lake or Zen 2. To give you an idea, I'm running a 6700K (Skylake 4C/8T) at 4.5 GHz and during VR gaming I'm seeing significant frame time variation for graphically intensive games. Aside from that, you're running a pretty low amount of storage. These days, 2 TB SSDs and 8 TB HDDs have the best price per GB. If you're not feeling space constrained I wouldn't worry about it. If you are, make sure any SSDs you get are TLC and not QLC, as the endurance and performance are significantly less on QLC. Make sure any HDDs you get are not SMR, as they are much slower than their PMR counterparts. My friend just posted throughput benches for some SMRs he bought for bulk storage and they're maxing out at 20 MBps. When you eventually do upgrade your graphics card, you should integrate it into your custom loop. You have more than enough capacity to cool both CPU and GPU with mild OCs.

perhaps try 1650super for the GPU would be a good upgrade. because they are readily available for under 200$ in most places.

Good but slight upgrade might be optimal, what do you mainly do in terms of gaming (gpu slightly weak)?

No sound card or nothin!?
You would probably see a decent upgrade moving to a newer platform. Since you custom cool... The 10th or 11th gen Intel K SKU's can do 5.0GHz pretty easy which would help. I'd shoot for a Z590/i7 11700K and probably upgrade the RAM to something faster... maybe a 4000MHz CL18 kit. You do need to keep that loop for the new stuff, cause these newer processors get warm with the thermal velocity boost. But the big thing about the newer platform is the built-in features like a sound card, 2.5GB LAN, USB 3.1 and other things...

Cpu upgrade would be good, Also you can't say you have a custom loop or rate my rig without pics we all know aesthetics are 99% of what matters in builds
