Hi guys, i am worried my 1070ti SC is dying on me.

During gameplays the computer is rebooting ramdonly. At first i thugh this was a problem with ubisoft as i was playing assassins creed unity.
HOwever i have noticed this happening in CSGO too, and csgo does not stress the gpu and cpu here but it is rebooting too.

So i removed all drivers, restarted on safe mode, ran DDU to remove all drivers. Reinstalled an older driver, check both games integrity files and the computer is still rebooting.

After that i removed the CPU overclock back to stock, but the problem persists. How can i further inspect what is going on?

I have a GTX260 that works. Should i remove drivers again, slap the old timer in to check for these ramdom reboots? If the computer stops restarting during gameplay, does that mean that 1070ti is dying?

*I do use msi/riva to monitor temps and so on, and gpu temperature here barely goes over 60º, so i doubt it is overheating

Yes, and probably..A GTX 260 and a GTX 1070 Ti draw almost identical watts of power (see specs)..What PSU are you using?

    * Corsair Obsidian 450D Mid-Tower - Airflow Edition * ASUS ROG Maximus X Hero (Wi-Fi AC) * Intel i7-8700K @ 5.0 GHz * 16GB G.SKILL Trident Z 4133MHz * Sabrent Rocket 1TB M.2 SSD * WD Black 500 GB HDD * Seasonic M12 II 750W * Corsair H115i Elite Capellix 280mm * EVGA GTX 760 SC * Win7 Home/Win10 Home *

I doubt it's the graphics card.. prob time to reinstall a fresh copy of windows.

But first I'd look into memory issues. Mem test the ram.

i slapped the gtx 260, 2 hs playing csgo no reboots so far.

I was getting ramdom restarts with 5min of gameplay before. I think it is the gpu!

Windows was installed like 3months ago, quite fresh i must say. Memory issued i rather doubt too.

What's the most recommended for mem stability? I could try that since i am got the gtx260 already installed

HI guys just a quick update.

I formated the computer, fresh windows install.
I am running the GTX260 since, no freezes no restarts so far. (no reboots on stock cpu speed or overclocked).

Going to keep it a couple days with this setup, then pop the 1070ti back in to check for these ramdom freezes.

installed the 1070ti today, back with the ramdom reboots when gaming.

I just run lots of memory tests, and ran aida64 stressing the cpu over an hour and no freezes at all.
As soon as i game or when i open firestrike from 3dmark, my computer reboots.

I think i did the best i could to identify temperatures and stress memory, cpu, ssd and it all fine.
It is only restarting my computer when something is stressing the gpu.

I have lots of 3dmark benches from couple months ago, and now i am not even able to open it.

Is there anything else i could still try?

ALright, i contacted EVGA BRASIL, and they told me to RMA it directly to the store. The store already confirmed the problem with the card.

However evga brasil told me they have to replace a new one or a better one. The store wants to give my money back, and the problem today is that there arent option,s there are non series 10 cards. The store does have rtx 2070 and 2080 in stock. Why don't they replace that instead?

If i get my money back i cant by a gpu with the same power for the price i already paid.

Why is EVGA RMA in brazil doind that? Or is this just the shop trying to be smart?

Why don't they replace a 2070 instead if the shop has them in stock?

The store isn't evga, so they aren't going to upgrade you to a newer card like evga could.

Kabum is an authorized EVGA Retailer!
i am in contact with the store now, and i told them if they aren't going to replace a better one I want the faulty back and i will send this to evga usa.

It is very clear the store has lots of 2070 in stock i just dont know which of the variants are equivalent to mine 1070 ti SC BLACK

Most all 2070 cards would be very comparable to the 1070ti. In benchmarks it might seem like a big difference but in games It’s always in the same ballpark performance for a 2070.

i just contacted the store to ask for a replacement as a 2070 and they said they will contact back soon.
But as mine 1070ti was a SC black edition i said the most close ones are the

    a. 08G-P4-2172-KR XC Gaming or
    b. 08G-P4-2172-KR XC Black Gaming

    right?

that ultra gaming model seems more expensive with a tripple slot, i dont think the store would agree to send that one

The cooling does change from two slots to three also speeds do change but it’s always going to be in the same realm of playability as a your 1070ti and probably in most cases even slightly faster. If you have the room I agree the three slot cooler would be the way to go since it keeps it cooler.

Re: Ramdom reboots (1070ti sc) 2019/05/14 13:08:12 (permalink)
it is not a option for me to choose a replacement. I have contacted evga brasil and the store so they could replace witha 2070 XC black same model from mine 1070ti SC black, and they said no.

i contacted evga brasil to confirm if they are allowed to do that and evga brasil said yes. Which means EVGA does not honor RMAs in brazil.
I am sure if it this was happening with a store in USA i would have got a replacement and not having to beg for what is my right

    And here comes the politics behind it;
The 2070 here cost 1000 reais over what i paid for the 1070ti. That translate to about 300usd more than what i paid for the 1070ti.
They tried offering a 2060 with only 6gb of VRAM which is a inferior model. And if the store returns my money i wont be able to a buy a new gpu with the same performance anywhere. I would most be able to get 1665 or 2060 and i need more vram.

EVGA BRASIL is in partnership with Kabum store and not helping at all!!!

Keep pushing for a 1070 ti if you don't want to take the 2060, but since you only play @ 1600x900 the 2060 is a good replacement...

    Look at the 1080p results.

playing 1440p on the new monitor, that is why i need more vram

They could at least replace with this model RTX 2070 XC Black Edition Gaming 8GB, GDDR6 - 08G-P4-1171-KR
