Hey folks,

My 3080 has been working great until yesterday.  I updated it's drivers before playing the MW2 beta and was surprised to find that I was getting 15-20FPS.  I figured it was because of the beta being poorly optimized but it's not isolated.  Regular 'ol Warzone and others are also seeing sub 20 FPS, with no changes to my system other than that driver update.

Reinstalling the drivers now.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Which drivers? Are you using the studio drivers? Probably not the best..you should stick with 516.94 I think ...at least for now

Are your GPU clocks increasing under load? Any frame limiters on anywhere?

Not the best for what? I'm using them right now and they run excellent. No issues at all for me.

If you still have FPS issues after reinstalling the drivers (we would recommend using DDU if you aren't), can you run a benchmark (such as 3DMark), then provide a link to the results?

Make sure you didn't have Precision running while you did the driver update, otherwise your power limit will be all messed up and that would be why performance is suddenly bad.

Solved, well sort of.  Something was acting up with 516.94, but went away after rolling back with a clean install of 516.59.

@HeavyHemi - GPU usage was maxing out at 100%. I wasn't using FPS monitor to track clock speeds (since I wanted to link up with the boys asap!) but I'll run tests later this weekend.

@EVGAtech_Matthew - thanks for that! I haven't run a benchmark in a while - will try that out this weekend as long as the hurricane doesn't knock out the power! :)

@ty_ger07 - I DID have it running in the background while updating.  Is that a thing?

If any of you have updated to Windows 11 v22H2 there is a problem with the Nvidia driver.  When this new version of Windows starts it also starts the Nvidia Frameview SDK service, which causes major problems in games.  Nvidia is aware and working on a fix. In the meantime just disable the Frameview service until they release a fix.

Yes, that can cause PX1 to have the power target locked to the minimum, causing extremely low FPS because the card is now very power limited. Close out PX1 if updating/installing nvidia drivers.

Every time I've used 'studio driver' it underwhelms with its performance *shrug* I don't and won't use them

Yes, it has been reported by multiple people and is reproducible.

Nvidia Geforce Experience also fixes this temporarily
