The 2080 Ti is a fantastic compute beast. Equivalent to Titan V for about 35% the price.

I’m assuming the Tensor Core count is correct and is open the CUDA api

I used to mine. Now I compute.

This is going to have to be under water. Running this aircooled is like driving a Porsche with a speed limiter.

How long before EK comes out with a block... guesses?

My question is, what is the real world difference between the 2080 and Ti? Is it just the memory? Do I need the extra for 4K? That a gigantic price difference. I need to see a performance review based on application before I could decide.

Apparently they use a lot of power, so I imagine there will be the heat from that. My thoughts were the same. I do like Nvidia's cooler aesthetic design though... looks good.

If I had to guess - the inclusion of Tensor Cores is a real hardware edition.

It would take very skilled game developer to take advantage of Tensor in games. For a deep learning card however, the 2080 Ti is phenomenal.

Hmmm.... unlike Volta the Tensors look to be gimped for image manipulation only.

In Volta the Tensor Cores are exposed via CUDA API. For the RTX game cards I’m guessing they are firmware encoded for Ray Tracing only.

This is indeed a pure gaming card.

Yah, that's what I thought, but... Wow that is a big difference in cores, but I have to see some comparisons to see how this is going to work out before spending that much extra coin.

im assuming that if you're crunching/folding they could be enabled for that - since they would be idle otherwise
you have to look at the drivers and  folding_at_home and boinc  individual apps to see if they will update and use the tensor cores

The warranty on your card will only be for you only, and it won't transfer to another person when you sell it. If you buy from evga you don't have to worry about that as the warranty will transfer to the next person. Resale value ftw.

Don't forget, with all the TDP and possibly high heat chatter, it has a 89c max temp.  Not sure if it's throttling point or it's  shutoff point.

I see why we're seeing such massive heatsinks to keep it from hitting that point.  It would sucks for those with dirty and not so well ventilated systems with pretty high ambient temps to begin with.

$1,200 for a Ti.. ouch. Impressive specs though.

Highly likely will have to water cool these. The Titan X (pascal) was not good at all on stock cooling, but once I got a AiO cooler on there, wow, huge difference. Runs at 2GHz without even having to adjust voltage, and temp sits around low 60C on load.

But I thought Titans were never intended for gaming from a marketing stand point. It does stand to reason that they gimp the cores for display purposes only though. It's still a lot of extra money. How much use will I get out of it is the question. Testing will be interesting. Sadly all the cards will be sold out by then

That's what I'm saying; the Titans ARE now solidly in the professional market with the Quadros now since the Titan V. The 2080 Ti fills the space in the GeForce lineup that the Titans previously occupied. The Ti is no longer the midlife refresh of the base cards.

That's what I'm saying; the Titans ARE now solidly in the professional market with the Quadros now since the Titan V. The 2080 Ti fills the space in the GeForce lineup that the Titans previously occupied. The Ti is no longer the midlife refresh of the base cards.

So what is? Will there even be anything that comes out in a few months?

I was surprised to see the ti released at the same time they release the new 20 series. Prices seem to be a bit high, IMO.

Again, see my comment above yours. If you're thinking of the 2080 Ti as the same as previous generations' Tis, you're wrong. Think of the 2080 Ti as occupying the space in the GeForce lineup that the Titans used to.

I'n not understanding this marketing strategy, Is the 2080 Ti a professional card then?

With the price point of the 2080 Ti, it seems to be taking the place of the Titans for the gaming lineup, since the Titan V has been moved to the professional lineup, correct?

But I thought Titans were never intended for gaming from a marketing stand point. It does stand to reason that they gimp the cores for display purposes only though. It's still a lot of extra money. How much use will I get out of it is the question. Testing will be interesting. Sadly all the cards will be sold out by then

Gotcha, while the Titan V did offer a good gaming bump, I'm not sure if it was worth the extra $. Who are these Ti's really for? 4K surround?. Being relegated to a single GPU, will VR benefit from a Ti or will a higher clocked 2080 be better?
