EDIT #2: WELP! It happened again today when just browsing online and during gaming - black screen no video signal and had to hard reboot PC to get image again.
 
Is the 3090 dying? What is the solution for this?

    Had the same issue and I had to RMA. I suggest you do the same.

    I'm confident my replacement card will be amazing though as the serial number ends with 1337.

    Hey Lobstar,
     
    What BIOS were you running when this happened?  Standard OC or XOC?
     
    I ask because I just had this same thing happen to me last night for the first time on the standard OC BIOS, and I'm currently testing out the XOC as I realized I don't think I've seen anyone/hardly anyone report a black screen of death on that one.

    This just happened to me once on oc bios. 3080 ftw3 ultra

    I was having this issue on my 3080 and it was driving me crazy. I tried everything and finally just said screw it and reinstalled windows. Doesn't make sense, and I'm not sure how it worked, but it fixed my problem.

    Did you do a clean install or repair/"keep my files" etc?

    I did a repair, but removed all my drives not essential to windows for quick recovery. So far, 2 clan mates and myself have been having issues with our pc's with 3080's not booting properly and this has fixed all of our problems so far. Windows reinstall has always been my last resort so I tried everything else first. Good luck
