Get a spare PSU and connect your GPU to it separately and see how that goes, some power supplies new or old can't handle the 30 series it has nothing to do with the wattage or age.

Don't have a spare so would be 100 quid down the drain which really isn't ideal, don't see how it can be PSU if it's only crashing a game though? Surely if overcurrent or something was being tripped it would shut down the whole system? All of those event viewer and reliability monitor errors all seem to point to drivers as well?

It depends on the crash yes if its crashing to desktop most likely the GPU is unstable on its clocks, now if its crashing your system with ether a black screen and rebooting your system then I would be looking at the PSU and if thats fine then the card its self.

Yeah it's only crashing games now, I disabled XMP on the RAM and it seems a bit more stable, hard to tell though as it can literally come out of nowhere. GPU is on the stock clocks so seems odd if it's unstable.

24h since last crash - disabling XMP seems to have done the trick. Not an ideal solution though really, hopefully will be fixed with a later driver update..

Hey I just started running into the same issue. Every time I ran "scan" in EVGA Precision X1 (v1.1.2) it would crash somewhere between 17 and 50%.  By crash I mean I would get a black screen and eventually the system would restart into Windows.

Fortunately when I first got the card (EVGA RTX 3080 FTW 3 Ultra) I did not have this issue. I'm using a Seasonic PRIME Platinum 850w power supply. I realized the only thing I did differently between now and then was upgrade the Nvidia driver. I upgraded to 457.30 (release date Nov. 9, 2020) and that is when the crashes during "scan" started.

After reading through this thread and not loving any of the options (testing with different PSU, disabling XMP, etc.) I figured I'd uninstall the driver and install one I know for sure was working.

I ended up installing the Nvidia Studio Driver 456.71 (release Oct. 10, 2020). First attempt running "scan" worked. Also have not seen any issues in games.

I just got the same issue with 3090 FTW3 Ultra.

Same events as well.

I just uninstalled the gpu from my main PC with Seasonic Prime 1300W Platinum.
I am checking with my other PC with Seasonic Titanium 1000W.

But it is very odd since I didn't have this issue with other 3080.

CPU : Ryzen 5950X
M/B : X570 Aorus Xtreme
RAM : Klevv 16Gb * 4
GPU : EVGA 3090 FTW3 Ultra
PSU : Seasonic 1300W Platinum

Now my GPU doesn't even turn on properly.

After changing with 2070 Super, works 100% fine, but not with 3090 FTW3 which does not even show from the booting sequence.

Guess I have to ask for the RMA... I just purchased it 3 days ago... ;(

IDK If you have tried to clean uninstall driver using Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) . You should download the latest NVIDIA driver to a folder first Since NVIDIA team address this issue and seem to attempt to fix it with this new Driver. you need to disable your internet (windows tend to automatically install older NVIDIA drivers that you don't want) before going through the process. First, you should disable your internet then enter Safe Mode and use DDU to uninstall the driver once your computer restart makes sure the internet still disable then install the NVIDIA driver that you downloaded after installation finish then you can enable your internet again. Hopefully, this will fix your crash problem good luck!

I've killed 2 prime titaniums with my trusty 2080ti ftw ultra during heavy weekend benchmark sessions.
The second time around  my vendor reimbursed me and told me to rebuy from the tx line.
Since then i've tortured the tx 850 with the 2080ti and my 3080. Runs fine for 5 months now.

! Since PSUs get made in batches i am only saying i've got 2 bad ones from the same old batch.
