Greetings,

I spent a good part of the day installing the hybrid kit for the 3080 FTW ultra. I had a few questions that seem to be giving me a problem. I am using the Rad on the front of my case, and I can't seem to tell how the fans are supposed to go. Usually, they have some sort of directions on how the flow and the spin of the fan go. My other question is that my GPU sits idle at 35-37 (celsius), is that optimal? When I start playing games it goes to around 50-60, I honestly don't think I have the fans set correctly. Any ideas? Thanks!

CPU:i7 9700K @ 5.4GHz
Motherboard: Aorus PRO z390
RAM: TridentZ 32GB @ 3866Mhz
GPU: EVGA RTX 3080 FTW Ultra FHR (Hybrid Kit)
COOLING: NZXT Kraken X72 360mm
STORAGE: 970 EVO (500GB,1TB)

I have in front of me EVGA fan from my 2080 and if fans on 3080 are same way then:

    a) There are "arrows" on side of the fan indicating rotation direction and direction air is being moved in. They are very shallowly molded in plastic so it is black on black very hard to see, shining flashlight under angle helps.

    b) In absence of doing that rule of thumb is air moves from side of fan that has EVGA logo to side of fan that has label with model and specs. In other words fan mounted for push configuration on radiator will have EVGA logo visible and specs label hidden.

I don't know what temperatures on 3080 Hybrids tends to be but my 2080 Hybrid is low 30s under idle, mid 50s under load, in non-stock fan configuration that might be more aggressive than yours (memory fan controlled by VBIOS in OC position, radiator fan replaced with Noctua NF-A12x25 running at fixed 75%) so your temperatures seem OK to me.

Mine sits between 23-27 degrees on idle. May also depend on ambient temperature as it is quite cold at the moment where I live. Under load, it can hit 60 degrees. So...I would say yours is quite the same as mine. However, i own the 3080 TI FTW3 and Hybrid Kit. Not sure if that makes any difference at all. Also I have chosen the "quiet" fan preset. If I move to aggressive, then it will be 5-7 degrees lower underload

Temperature of environment -does- play a difference as that air is what is used for cooling of radiator.

So, for OP's reference: My current room temperature is 70F. My GPU idle temp is 32C. Moment I start heating room up my GPU temp starts going up to reflect that. At 74F or so I usually see idle in mid 30s.

Front intake is pretty questionable, you're dumping ~250-350w+ of heat onto all your components.

Intake on a PC case fan is always toward the hub.  For example,  an intake fan on the front of your PC case would have the fan hub, facing out.

here are my temps playing warzone with a 3080 ftw3 hybrid card and a 5800x.  Both AIOs are exhausting the heat out of my 5000D case.

Need to know the average power level.

    Bumping!!

I have been doing research and I found a guy who purchased aftermarket Hybrid Plates. I would have to take the backplate off to install it, what would I need to do with the thermal pads and paste? Is there any recommendation for premium paste/pads that wouldn't ruin or eat the copper?? As for my case, I know this Rad is dumping really hot air into the case. What should I do, put the 360mm CPU rad in front and the GPU at the top? Or should I just exhaust the heat from the EVGA Rad out of the front? Is the CPU Rad (Intake) enough cool air to bring into the case? I really have no idea how to optimize my case temperatures. Any help is appreciated! Thank you so much!

How are your fans set and what are they doing?  The 3080 Hybrid should idle at 23C with the fans at 1000rpm in a 20c room, at idle power state.  We have no idea if your gaming temps are good without knowing power under load.

I've talked to a few people about this... My GPU Rad is intake (front), my 360mm CPU Rad is intake (top) and I have a single Corsair LL140 on the back (exhaust). I was told to make my CPU rad an exhaust and keep everything the same. I can also add 2 more fans on the bottom of my Fractal Define r6 (supposedly). When I'm gaming (1440p) I get to about 68-70c underload. Anything else? Thanks!

What are the fan speeds at idle and load.

What is the card power under load.

What is the ambient room temp.

Without this we can't tell if you just have a crummy setup or the mount of the kit is bad.

With dual intake you are cooking the heck out of your ram and VRMs.

Yeah sorry about the lack of information...I should have known better.

    GPU @ idle (here)
GPU @ idle GPU-Z (here) and idle fan speed (here)
GPU @ load (1 hour gaming) (here)

If there is anything else you need that would be helpful please let me know. I've noticed that when I boot up the PC and run it normally (no extreme load), it will idle at around 26-28c. When I introduce a load onto the GPU the core will reach 68-70c, but after the load goes away it will idle at 40c even after 15-20mins of normal idle. (see here)

edit: Don't mind the top screenshot, it loaded OC settings for some reason.

You're not providing enough detail about your average power level (100% sustained? more?) and fan speed, but it's safe to say your setup or mount is crap.

You are idling at the top power state, so low 30's is normal.

Can you please explain what I should be looking for in GPU-Z? Or how to perform a thorough test so that it’s realistic to help solve the problem? I’m just trying to create a solution, apologies if I misunderstand your previous reply. Appreciate it.
