I just purchased the RTX 3070 EC3 with Best Buy. It is not arriving until November 12. That brings me dangerously close to the 14 day window to register my product. What if I don't get it till after that window? Do I need the product in hand to register? I am new to the Step Up Program (first PC build). Thanks!

    At first, I thought that you were trying to step up to the 3070, and then I realized that you were one of the lucky ones who got a 3070. You need the serial number in order to register the product. I know you can find it on the outside of the box. Hopefully, without shipping delays, you should get it in time. Otherwise, I guess you will have to enjoy your 3070 ;)

    Thanks so excited for my first build. Happy to hear any recommendations. All I have so far is this gpu at the Sabrent PCIE gen 4 1tb ssd (got it on sale 149) Trying to decide on CPU to pair with gpu (AMD)

    I am using an ASUS TUF x570 Plus Wifi with a Ryzen 7 3700X. My budget was around $1400 so I wanted to make sure I was running at least 8 cores. You could wait for the 5000-series to come out from AMD but who knows what inventory will be like or if there will be supply for a while.

    IMO it would be foolish to not wait and at least see what the 5000 series launch looks like given the significant gains those CPUs see over current gen. There likely wouldn't be a shortage of 3000 series CPUs by then, and they may also drop in price which would make it a better buy.

    AMD will have a lot of demand but they are using a mature process for both their CPU and GPU so I am hopeful.  I'm waiting on the 5000 series to come out and will grab either a 3080 or a 6800xt/6900xt whatever I can get, which I expect to be AMD even though I would probably rather have the 3080 due to DLSS and more mature ray tracing.
