So quick story, my Zotac GTX 1080 got damaged and is almost dead due to a bad power supply. (Ironically it was a EVGA G3 550 unit that gave up the ghost, but not blaming EVGA since it was probably a dud unit.)
Anyways, I'm going to replace it with a EVGA RTX 2060 Super, but i'm conflicted on whether to buy the XC or the XC Ultra.
 
Basically, i'd like to know how much better the temps are on the triple slot cooler vs the dual slot cooler.

    If you're concerned about cooling just get the ultra version as it will be the best.

    Yeah I have my eye on the ultra version sounds good.

    I was mainly wondering if the dual slot cooler is so good that the triple slot yields like only a tiny amount of extra cooling power.

    Sooo evga's now refreshing the RTX 2070, would this be a better buy?

    Yes. The more cuda cores the better the performance.

    Personally, for the smaller price difference I would go with the 2070. As Sajin said, more cuda cores will give you better performance for the same wattage.
