Good Morning all, the process does work!
Long story short...I purchased 8800GTX at the end of 2007 and liked it so much got another at beginning of 2008. SLI and then watercooling (Yeah, down that rabbit hole...lol). Ran them until 2015 when I replaced with 2x780ti (watercooled..lol) and my kids used the 8800's from then on, then in an HTPC, etc.
One failed in 2020 and then the other at the end of 2020, they were the -AR version of the warranty and thus able to rma and replace. Received two replacement EVGA GeForce GTX 970 FTW GAMING ACX 2.0, they look brand new, fans have never turned and not a mark on the pcie connectors.
Well done EVGA...I should pull the fan shrouds and make sure the tim hasn't dried out and cracked...wait if I go that far should probably find full cover water blocks....lol...and it starts.
...ps anyone know of stock available for the block???
