Without a doubt!  He and Fats Domino were the true originators...they actually created the sound that we enjoy today.  Chuck with the guitar and Fats on the piano.  Elvis is credited for King of Rock n Roll...but he pretty much came later.

Have to take in account how much the blues formed rock and roll.
BB King, Albert King, Freddy King, Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy, Shorty Guitar, Robert Cray, Eric Clapton.
That's where rock N roll comes from. Even Black Sabbath was a blues band before they went Metal.
