What is the max RAM on the sc15? The spec sheet says there are 2 free ram slots, how hard is it to get to them? Im thinking about adding 2 more sticks. Thanks

Another sc15 thread on here concluded that there are not 2 open slots like the manual says there is.

Unfortunately codyst is correct; there is a mistake in the manual, and this notebook only has a total of 2 RAM slots.

Your only option would be to replace the stock 2x8GB sticks. The maximum RAM would be 2x16GB = 32GB. Here's the link for my teardown guide if you are interested.

Thanks for the info, kind of sucks though... Having 2 spare slots was one of the reasons I bought this laptop.

Clearly says 2 slots here, but it is too bad they printed it incorrectly in the manual.

Can someone explain how you would ever use more than 16gb of ram? Genuinely asking.

Simply replace the 2x8 GB sticks with 2x16 sticks.

VM would possibly require more RAM if your running several at once Most common uses of any PC see diminished returns above 16 GB RAM Those whom run an insane amount (50+) of tabs of their favorite browser may require more ..... Some professional software can use RAM effectively in large amounts ... your probably using workstation also for those applications Good read: How much RAM do you really need for gaming?(excerpt / conclusion) "In general, more RAM can make your computing more pleasant, and we certainly don't recommend against 32GB. But if you're looking for the best way to improve framerate, a better video card is going to make a much bigger difference than going from 8GB to 32GB, which may have no effect at all."
