Thought I would check this out.
Plugged in my headset to the front panel ports. Confirmed I have sound coming through it.
Start the NU Audio app, and all it says is " Please Link your Device" and I can not choose any selections.

Anyone play around with this yet?

Have you installed the Creative drivers yet?  Generally, the Creative drivers need to be installed before the NU Audio software will be picked up properly.

Yes indeed have been using the Creative sound since getting this build done.

If you haven't already tried a reinstall of the drivers try that. Just in case Microsoft overwrote the drivers with any type of update.

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X,  Corsair Mp700 Pro M.2, 64GB Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5  X670E Steel Legend, MSI RTX 4090 Associate Code: H5U80QBH6BH0AXF. I am NOT an employee of EVGA

Thanks for the suggestion, but no did not make a difference. Still saying please link your headphones to device and can not select any NU audio options.

Have you confirmed that the default playback device is set to the Nu audio and is your internal audio cable plugged into the card and not your motherboard's audio?

You could also try disabling all other playback devices leaving only the card as the main audio source.

I did some testing with our system and could not re-produce this error message.

Hmm default playback device does not give NU as an option, only Creative.
My audio is only plugged into the onboard audio (Creative).

So maybe I am just thick here - do I need to get an actual physical NU Audio card to use NU Audio on this Dark board?
If so, then I totally misunderstood as I thought NU audio came with and built into the Dark board, like the Creative is.

Ok that explains it then thanks for the clarification!
Might want to clarify that in the Z390 Dark Manual. I kept reading through the directions for NU audio and could not figure out why it was not working. Course I may be the only one that thought with the Dark advertised as having NU audio it was already built in...

Much appreciated! So anyone with the Dark have NU Audio yet, and if so what do you think of it?

    Another question for ya:
I was looking at the NU Audio card, it lists it as 2 channel analog or 5.1 channel digital.
I have a Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 sound system. Love the sub.
    Does it support 2.1 analog?

Hold on, which NU Audio software did you install?  The one available with the motherboard drivers, or the one for the NU Audio Card available on the EVGA Download Center?

Ok.  You do not need to use a NU Audio Card in order for that software to work.

I'll follow up on this and check with our Motherboard team.

Don, do you have something plugged into both the front and rear jack of the Creative and FP Header when you get this message?  We were able to reproduce this issue, but only under that circumstance.

Either way, we'll update the driver to address this issue.

    Awesome thank you !!
Yes, my 2.1 Klipsch speaker system is plugged into the rear IO ports of the motherboard, I leave them plugged in at all times.
I was using the front panel ports for my headset when I was trying to set up the NU audio.

Looking forward to the update so can check this out, let me know when it gets posted.
    And thanks again!!

    Thanks Lee.

Ok installed this version, I launched it and did not have the message to Link my device, so that was good.
Plugged headphones in ( front panel port), and opening a program I got the windows sound in headset.

So went to play a song, and nothing. Now do not get the windows sound when opening a program either.

Confirmed my headset is plugged in properly.
    Confirmed it is not muted.
    Sound level at 100%.
Sound device selected for audio playback - SoundBlaster Recon 3D. ( there is no NU listing under sound devices).
Confirmed in SB Pro Studio it is set to headphones.

Edit - Not sure what is going on here but it appears to have knocked out my headphone sound from those front panel ports completely. Even uninstalling the NU Software I still no longer get sound in my headphones whereas before I did.

    Any ideas?

Well, that was a disappointing result.  SB Recon 3D would be the correct output, generally, as there wouldn't be a separate one for NU Audio on the motherboard version. Did you try rebooting?

I would check the Creative settings to see if there is anything that would block sound to the front panel, or check in the mixer settings to see if something similar is happening there.  If not, I'd uninstall both the Creative and NU Audio drivers, reboot, reinstall creative, reboot, reinstall NU Audio.

If not, I'll see if I can scrounge up a Z390 DARK to test.

Yeah I already tried rebooting. Also tried uninstalling and re-installing Nu audio.
Sound is completely gone for headphones.
In Windows Control Panel for Sound - only shows my speakers.
Does not show headset audio nor mic. ( my headset has mic also).

Sound device selected for audio playback - SoundBlaster Recon 3D. ( there is no NU listing under sound devices).
Confirmed in SB Pro Studio it is set to headphones.

Uninstalling Nu and Creative drivers, rebooted.
Installed Creative Drivers ( from the included flash drive), speakers are fine but headset still no longer works. Selecting Headphones in the Creative software gives me no sound in the front panel. Only installed the Creative drivers.

Prior to this headphone sound worked fine with Creative software in the front panel, until I installed these Nu audio drivers.

Apparently something with installing these Nu drivers has borked getting sound through the headphones now for me in the front panel ports.

Ok much thanks Lee, I really appreciate your trying to get this going for me.
Edit: I think at this point if I could just get the Creative sound back to my front port headphones I would be happy.

Our engineers suggested for you to turn the system off, turn off the power supply, then try booting again to see if the audio remains the same.  Turning the A/C off can reset the amp to its default value.

That did the trick! My Creative sound is now back properly in the front headphone jack!!
Thank you so much and please pass along my thanks to the engineers!

I think I will hold off for now on installing the NU Audio. If you get another update that you think addresses this issue certainly let me know though would be willing to try again in that case.

I'm confused, would I benefit from buying both, the z390 dark and the NU Audio, or do I have to buy only z390 dark?

The NU Audio on the Z390 Dark is limited to being a higher quality amplifier out of the front panel audio, along with some additional surround features.  The NU Audio Card is a proper full-fledged audio card, so these are not directly comparable.

Would you benefit from both?  Of course.  If you plan on running 5.1 analog surround, however, then the Z390 Dark only would be the better option.

I plan to use Sennheiser HD 700, plugged directly into quarter jack from NU Audio card. I think it is better to buy both, z390 + NU Audio card. Right?

That would be my preference, if it was me.

Counter-point, though - You could always buy the Z390 DARK and the HD 700's, and then test them first to see how they sound.  The native Creative onboard audio does have a headphone amplifier, so it's not as if you should expect the audio to be poor.  Personally, I've always been more of the MB + Audio Card type, so I would get the NU Audio Card.  However, I do want you to know that you do have options.

You are the man, Lee. I will simply buy both of them, because I am from Romania and I can't wait 3 weeks for shipping, then testing hd700 + mobo, and after that, waiting another 3 weeks for soundcard. I appreciate your support, thank you!
