I'm going to be installing a third NVMe into my EVGA motherboard and was needing to know if there is anything I will need to do after it is installed to make it operational.  Or will Windows do it all?

Just make sure all the m.2 slots are enabled in BIOS. Once the drive is installed, it's like any other drive, you'll need to go to Disk Management in Windows and initialize the disk and chose the formatting before you can use it.

Thank you for the reply.  I am pretty sure all slots are enabled in BIOS, but I'll double check.  Again, thanks for the input!

I have another question.  Can I move the new NvME to the number 2 slot and the existing [in that spot] moved to the third slot?  That drive is going to be a backup and the new one used for where games will run from.

Or should I leave it there and install the new one in the third slot?  Everything on the current 2nd drive will be going on the new drive.

On the Z690 CLASSIFIED the M.2_1 (top slot) is the one thats connected to CPU lanes, so thats where you would want to place your highest GEN and/or fastest drive, then the consecutive slots M.2_2 and M.2_3 are both connected through chipset, what you place in those and in what order does not matter, even for aesthetics if you had individual and nice looking passive coolers, the graphics card will cover them.

It shouldn’t matter but I would not change the drive letter in Windows unless you completely remove everything from the drives to an external drive first and no applications would look to the drive for anything. This is because if you change drive letters to try to switch things around some program will start trying to save something to the game drive letter instead of the backup drive letter. Not major but it’s annoying.

Okay, I finally have my PC back together again.  The new drive was installed in the third slot.  System files are on slot 1 and didn't want to move all that.  It is a 980 Pro, 1TB, so it is still very good.

Now I will need to do the Disk Manager thing.

Update:  Disk Manager thing completed and it seems to be good now.  Things look as they should with Samsung Magician.
