That's quite the driving setup the test driver was sitting in.  I bet it's an amazing feeling playing the game using something like that...

Yah he's just lacking VR. VR really takes it to the next level.

I'm completely sold, I'll never go back. It ser passed my imagination. The sense of distance is much better, being able to look to the apex and around, it's so much more natural. It's just like you are sitting in the car and it's all life size.

It sure does sound good.  Is the gameplay smooth?  Does it cause any dizziness, headaches or anything?  What device do you use for VR?

Game play is smooth, but VRs downfall ATM is resolution, but not bad enough for me to go back. You can try and make up for it with super sampling. SLI/CF doesn't work with VR yet either, so a high end PC is needed. I am using the Oculus Rift, it's high quality. I don't have any complaints about it. I think the motion sickness is up to the individual, but I have never experienced it, or been affected in any way. I have played for hours before too, not just driving sim.

I got a text bomb from my online racing buddy about this.   I have yet to play the first one properly.

If I had a wish list to make, it would be that they took a page from Gran Turismo and Forza and allowed you to build a car as you progress.

Your wish is granted by owning all three games. I prefer the game mechanics of Project Cars myself. Being able to drive any car I want from the start, and then have a career mode for SP, as well as their effort to replicate the real car in every way as a sim.

Would you recommend the 1st Project Cars game for single player use?  I've been looking for a race game recently, but not sure which.

If you like Need for Speed games you might like Forza Horizon 3. It's pretty good looking and can really range from light simulation to pretty close to the real thing depending on the settings you select. I also like the open world driving it allows between races.

I've got a few of the Need for Speed games.  They're fun.  I'll have to look at Forza Horizon 3 as well.  Thanks.

I know that this is supposed to be a sim racer, Which it will undoubtedly live up too. But I would like to see it be playable with a controller for those of us who don't want to blow big money on a wheel and pedals, or those making the rough transition from Forza or Gran Turismo.

I haven't tried playing it with a controller, but it's my understanding that one of the issues they did address was better controller feedback and input over the first Project Cars. I believe the new tire model is also a plus for controllers as well.

Almost 20 years ago, a 12-year-old boy joined a forum to help create amateur mods alongside a group of young developers aspiring to make professional games. The developers would go on to become the team behind Project CARS 2. But what happened to the boy? Find out in this Donut Media-made film that shows how that 12-year-old-boy went on to fulfil his motorsport dreams to become 2-time Le Mans winner and Corvette factory driver Tommy Milner in this, the third instalment of the “Built by Drivers” series of automotive films.
