This is PG's 3rd challenge for 2017   This is CPU tasks only
Sophie are short LLR tasks, so have HT turned off and keep no cache of tasks sitting on the disk.
It's Primegrid's Birthday! And we're going to celebrate with a 1 day party from 12th June 2017 00:00 UTC until 13th June 2017 00:00 UTC. To participate in the Challenge, please select only the Sophie Germain Prime Search (LLR) project in your PrimeGrid preferences section.

Can we take the 5th spot again? Higher maybe?

Happy Birthday PrimeGrid! This starts at 8PM Eastern USA time tonight. Six and a half hours to go.
24 hour run of short tasks.
This is one of the best chances to find a prime there is.

What's the penalty for HT on? I won't be home early enough to turn it off. What's the average run time?

My machines are switched over.  It's only 21 cores for this, but every little bit helps.

Approx 725 seconds with HT off. I'll be running 2 rigs with HT on for the first 4 hours  and will report on it.

I'm running with HT on for now. Set the client to only use 50% of CPU to compensate. When I get home around 10:30 I have to swap the cooler for a CLC 280 and remember to turn HT off on reboot.

OK boys and girls, it is time to find a prime.
Good luck everyone. Hope we can maintain 5th place.
Nice shot challenge with short tasks.
Good thing too, it is the hottest day of the year so far I do believe.
Low 90s F.  Going to need the electric meter a rest for a while after this one.

Looks like my system is claiming 16:17 per task right now.

    Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2670 0 @ 2.60GHz - ~1000 seconds (about 16:40... - dedicated to crunching 2p x 8 cores)
    Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6500 CPU @ 3.20GHz - ~585 seconds (only running two tasks)
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6850K CPU @ 3.60GHz - ~635 seconds (only running three tasks - the other three cores are used for folding gpus)

For the some reason my 6500 isn't running turbo boost...

    That would be 977 seconds

Here is what I am doing so far. No HT and not doing multi-thread.

    x5650: 2039 seconds  2.8ghz stock
    x5660: 1520 sec.  4ghz with overclock
    i7-4930k: 700 sec.
    i7-3930k: 720 sec
    E5-2670: 1070 sec
    Opteron 6172:  3250 sec

Welcome aboard Steve. I found that HT and no multithread seem to produce the most.
If we were just looking for primes, multithread cuts a bunch of time off a task.
And getting tasks returned in fast can be the difference between founder and doublechecker.
But multithread can not complete as many tasks as all the cores working on their own task.
I turned up the overclocks on a couple systems, can't go much more.

    Thanks Bill,
I have HT off, never seems to make a difference with my gear, just adds extra heat.....

Under two hours to go, the team is in 6th place, I doubt 5th is an option this go round.
Will be nice to shut these systems off for a few days, my central air is running nonstop.
Glad this was a 24 hour short one.
