Just gave myself a crash course in PRPnet. To be clear, I setup PRPNet client and only enable server=27:100:1:prpnet.primegrid.com:12006 Correct? Any info on task size/completion time?

I believe you're thinking of someone else Bill. I hardly do anything out side of the BOINC mgr.

Hi, here Goetz talk about 50 minutes for a task with a trick, but my 6600k with basic settings takes about 130min. I'm using only two cores because I've some Rosetta wus to end for the PG sprint. Start the project in one computer is not hard, I never used this client before but with the instructions that you find when you download the software is really easy to setup everything for the challenge. With only two cores I'm not doing much work, I'm doing the challenge mostly because I was curious to try this project. I really need more cores, now that my AMD is dead I've only two PCs for a total of 8 cores with not HT and I'm really not happy:(

Steve seems to have a good source for hardware over on your side of the pond. He had found some used multisocket servers. Not sure about the price and VAT taxes you guys have over there.

Sorry for the OT/ In Italy new hardware is pretty expensive, like the new 1080ti FTW3 that I'm gonna buy soon from the EVGA store cost 889€ (993$) plus shipping. And I must say thanks to EVGA for the folding bucks, the only way I can afford that monster is thanks to them! Now I'm looking on a couple of old Xeons , but they have to wait for the next paycheck /end of the ot, I swear I hope somebody will join me on the PRP challenge now that the Formula Boinc sprint is ended. crunching@EVGA FTW!(or at least for the 8th place, at the moment!)

All used and cheap enough, ricardo.ch is where I found all mine..., anything from 100 to 300 Swiss francs is what I have paid for them Usually upgrade the CPU's for about 300 to 400US off ebay... then good to go

I could not get it going last night. I will try again today. Not sure what I am doing wrong. My OS maybe buggered up, the PSU was going bad and kept rebooting the system. Took me a while to figure that one out, thought it was GPU or memory. RMA approved and ready to ship out, always something.

Found this to be the best resource: News and info about the PRPNet client can be found here . Basically: Download correct PRPnet client Extract run appropriate install file run corresponding update file edit the master_prpclient.ini per the instructions and save (the only server that should not be commented out for this event is server=27: 100:1:prpnet.primegrid.com:12006) run the correct start file You will get a separate window for each thread. ctrl-c shuts down each thread (make sure you select the shutdown procedure you want in master...ini) Took me about 10 minutes of reading to do the first PC. Got my other PC ready in about 2 minutes now that I've done it once. Credit from PRPNet will eventually get converted to BOINC credit and show up on your PrimeGrid account (and you can earn the PSA badge).Make sure your username and email match your primegrid info.
